Here's my thoughts on In Utero real quick:
Serve the Servants is an alright opener but doesn't go anywhere. Scentless Apprentice is great. Heart Shaped Box is boring and does nothing at all, ever. Rape Me is amongst the worst songs ever written. Frances Farmer has one decent rocking part. Dumb is pretty good. Very Ape is one of their best songs. Milk It has a good riff or two but has some boring and pointless noodling and doesn't really go anywhere -- I would still consider it a high point in their catalogue, it seems like they were trying something completely new with this one. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter is pretty good until the pointless ending which sounds like Sonic Youth done badly; this song in particular sounded AMAZING live (go look up that MTV Live and Loud performance of it or whatever; actually, all the In Utero songs sounded much better live). Tourette's is pointless. All Apologies is awful.
I can see how someone would like it, and I myself liked it a lot when I was 8 years old but nowadays it just... it's pretty good.
