the personal computer is the first tool invented that can be any other tool that the software tells it to be, provided the hardware is hooked up properly - router, laser cutter, welder, thermostat, toaster, entertainment system, large format printer, photocopier, text editor, digital scanner, sound editor, image editor, drafting machine, fax machine, phone, library book check out machine, checkbook machine, movie rental machine, buying a camera machine, selling artwork machine...etc.
according to yr logic, each one of these tasks should be performed by a separate specialized device and we would still be using a typewriter to type these messages and a fax machine to send them. instead it's all done by one single meta-machine.
explain to me how this is a bad thing.
