ANYWAY, the Modern Library edition was translated by Bernard Guerney.
This is fine with me. Any objections?
BTW, on the cover of the papernack edition is a quote by Nabokov (my hero of the moment): "An extraordinarily fine piece of work." If Nabokov likes it, it has to be good! I'm not sure if he's referring to the translation or the novel itself, though.
