Curiosity to google it. And older friends or siblings who tell them about sex.
When I was a little kid, my one sister couldn't stand that I didn't know anything more than "naked, kissing, in love, sperm somehow reaches the egg"
My school seemed kind of backwards. You get Sex Ed in 8th grade and 11th grade. But they don't put the condoms on the bananas until 11th grade.
