I've had problems with zonealarm and port forwarding through my router's firewall. whether or not they were in conflict, zonealarm didn't like it one bit. I don't think that's what caused zonealarm's demise on my system, but it started going haywire soon after.

although I had used it for years (with no problems at all), I'm no longer convinced of zonealarm's integrity. whatever started happening with it was unfixable. not even uninstalling and reinstalling the software worked.

in fact, even though I said it was unintalled, it's not. even after removing it from the registry, I could not get it to disappear entirely . I'm too lazy to reformat my drive so I switched to xp.

time to go back to turning my computer into a zombie by looking at russian pr0n.
