Hm..
Still suffering a little from the cold war, I would guess. Prague is fine. I've not really explored there much. The Mediterranean countries are worth exploring. They're generally only pilfered by the english so for an American it would be pretty interesting. I mean of course places like the Greek islands (Crete, Zanta) and Eastern Spain.
