I will now communicate how it is that the Germans are keeping it cool:

Keeping an Eye on Germany’s Covid-19 Battle
Germany has much in common with countries hit hard by Covid-19, Anna Sauerbrey writes in a New York Times column. “Except in one way: Very few people seem to be dying.”
Despite currently ranking fifth worldwide in confirmed cases (with 66,885), Germany ranks only ninth in deaths (645), according to Johns Hopkins data. As Sauerbrey writes, that makes for a low fatality rate: 0.96%, whereas Italy (more than 11,000 deaths) has seen a rate of more than 11%, and Spain’s is nearly 9%.
The government’s response is winning some praise: Chancellor Angela Merkel has been a model of calm, convincing reason, the AP’s David Rising and Geir Moulson have written; strict rules include fines (set by states) for congregating in groups; and as Sauerbrey notes, states have banned visits to the elderly. A more recent development, the federal government will coordinate equipment buying, public news outlet Deutsche Welle reports.
But the low death rate may be the mathematical product of another success, Billy Perrigo writes for Time: a swift and wide rollout of testing. That helped identify mild cases, including among younger people, meaning a larger total number of confirmed cases than reported by countries (like the US) that have struggled with testing. “[T]here is perhaps one lesson we can draw from Germany’s experience,” Sauerbrey writes. “Don’t count your blessings—or your data—too soon.”
