Because machines have taken over millions of jobs that people once did the exploited in the 1st world are harvested through over consumption. Obesity and drugs are the two main ways of doing this. Barrage them with an aggressively hedonistic culture that isolates and ridicules anyone who doesnt conform to it - destroy public space so they cant congregate unless consuminh then get to work hacking their neuro chemistry to turn them into junkie rats that burn themselves out scrabbling about for coins.

The rich today are already in some sort of early form of post capitalism and just printing money and passing it around each other. The rest of us are just desperately trying to stay on level one of the videogame while half cannibalising each other just to get by.
