generally i'm a teacher's pet otherwise, maths was just the one subject i never got my head around.

standard reply in my days: have you considered that perhaps the fact that i can't learn means that you're a bad teacher more than it does that i'm a bad student?
but that did cause me more trouble than anything.
you can always use that einstein failed at math thing, but i'm not sure that's true.
