If you dig the Electric Wizard, be sure and pick up the recently reissued album "Lucifer's Children" by the pre-Electric Wizard band Eternal. I've been enjoying that of late.

I always recommend the Japanese band Overhang Party if you are unfamiliar. My favorite rock band on earth.
"Satori" by the late 60s/early 70s Japanese group Flower Travellin' Band is a total essential heavy rock classic in my book as well. Cool to see you listed the Telescopes. "Taste" is quite the noisy gem. That was a big favorite of mine when it came out. |

it's awesome that you wrote Electric Wizard twice, they were the first metal band I really got into.
Check out Sleep if you haven't already. Someone recommended them to me when I told them I liked Electric Wizard and they have become one of my favourite bands....Doom Metal that avoids 100% of metal cliches that make a lot of people cringe. |
doom is great, check out asva, nadja and the goslings, boris also if you haven't. jesu are fucking fantastic, they are like old school industrial mixed with doom mixed with shoegazer (my bloody valentine) in amazing songs.
also, check out mouthus, they are slow and heavy and also noisy; they are amazing. |

I'll try and keep it down to five things, so as not to do the hipster swampage thing.
Ever since Stu convinced me to see them at ATP, I've been really digging Th' Faith Healers. Totally rocking early 90s SY/Fall/Krautrock/Shoegaze echoing Peel darlings. Fantastic, and someone I'd never really heard of, despite being into a lot of the stuff you listed. On the doomy/industrial side of things, I'm hugely into the first Godflesh album (EP?) right now. Especially Avalanche Master Song, which is one of the best album openers I've heard in ages, and Wounds. Pretty much my stock recommendation to absolutely everyone is John Cale's solo stuff (for songs, listen to the album 'Fear', for long psyched out rock minimalist jam stuff check out his album with Terry Riley, 'Church of Anthrax'). Don't know if you're big into Keiji Haino, but even if you are (or if you haven't liked what you've heard), his discography is so huge that it's easy to miss great stuff. I really love his work, and from the stuff you listed would recommend his album 'Affection', which is one of my favourite albums ever, or the first 2 'Fushitsusha' live albums, which are much more 'rock'. Oh, and if you haven't checked it out yet, regardless of your preconceptions about her, I would really suggest you spend some time with the new Joanna Newsom. I'm obsessed. 'Go Long' and 'In California' are both strong candidate for track of year right now... |

The reason I resurrected it, was I couldn't find a Curve thread on the board and I had to post that video. |
