So who voted in the EU elections today?

I voted LibDem. Not that I have a particular allegiance to that party though.

gmku 06.04.2009 05:08 PM

I did. I cast an absentee ballot from North Carolina. Who's running?

gualbert 06.04.2009 05:12 PM

Lurker 06.04.2009 05:12 PM

Right...so...who did you vote for? Er...who's running? Fucking loads of people are.

stu666 06.04.2009 05:14 PM

yeah i voted a few days ago by post

Lurker 06.04.2009 05:15 PM

Who'd you go for? As long as you didn't vote UKIP, BNP or Tory I'm ok with your choice.

EDIT - Oh and that Christian Party and probably a few of those other parties that you never hear about.

Danny Himself 06.04.2009 05:16 PM

I forgot to register. I'll be voting Lib Dem next time though. Or Green Party.

Bertrand 06.04.2009 05:17 PM

I didn't know it had started in Elsewhere Europe.
The first and last widely broadcasted debate was given today on national French TV.
8 parties were invited (there are 23 lists more or less).
I'll be voting this sunday, I'm still torn between two lists. We can't pick here and there, alas.

jon boy 06.04.2009 05:18 PM

i was not even aware of it. would have voted green or lib dem.

stu666 06.04.2009 05:18 PM

there was a local election and eu

eu=green
local=lib dem

the bnp can fuck right off :fuckyou: .

Lurker 06.04.2009 05:21 PM

There's a local election as well? What?

I would have voted Green if not LibDem but I recently heard on the radio that in recent opinion polls the LibDems are higher that both Labour and Conservatives so tactical voting helped me decide.

If when the results are out and you hear anything about any BNP (British Natonal Party) members getting any seats just think "fascist racists" and you'll get a rough idea of their policies.

gmku 06.04.2009 05:39 PM

Yawn. Tell us when it's all over.

I realise you personally are not responsible for American politics being important over here, but something or other is a fucking disgrace, and I bloody well won't stand for it. Whatever it is.

gmku 06.04.2009 06:45 PM

The fact that none of us knew about it = yawn. Sorry. You Euros really need to step up your game.

demonrail666 06.04.2009 07:03 PM

I voted for Labour.

I can see the BNP doing well in certain local elections, but not the euro one. The constituencies are too broad. the BNP seems to be more popular within very small boroughs.

Lurker 06.04.2009 07:05 PM

Yea I think you're right. I'm not too worried about them in general anyway. If they were ever to get into power there would be rioting.

demonrail666 06.04.2009 07:10 PM

They'll never get control of parliament but they have won local council seats in the past. They aren't a national threat but they are a local one.

Supposedly Geert Wilder's far-right 'Freedom Party' are looking like they could come second in the Netherlands' Euro election. That won't happen here but it is a bit of an eye-opener.

verme (prevaricator) 06.04.2009 07:15 PM

with the predicted abstention rate, there will probably be more surprises alike.
