top 10 to 15 siltbreeze releases ever:
why not? this may proove difficuilt for those, like me, who like literally almost everything the mighty label has released, and a good chunk of thier catalog ranks among my favorite shit ever. wierd rock music in its various forms is my favorite music, definitely, and no label in HISTORY has releases such a diverse array of strange rock bands.
here goes: 1. The Shadow Ring-Hold Onto ID/Temple of Bon Matin-Thunder Feedback Confusion (totally forgot they put this out)/ 2. Harry Pussy-What was Music?/Angus Maclise-Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda 3. Venom P. Stinger-tearbuckerter 4. The Dead C-harsh 70s Reality 5. Pink Reason-Cleaning the Mirror 6. Eat Skull-Sick to Death 7. Mike Rep and the Quotas-Stupour Hiatus vol. 2 8. Hank IV-Refuge in Genre 9. Guided by Voices-Get out of my Stations 10. Sapat-Mortise and Tenon 11. The Pin Group-Retrospective 12. Times New Viking-Present the Paisley Reich 13. Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments-Negative Guest List 7"/Vertical Slit-under the Blood Red Lava Lamp 14. Psychedelic Horseshit-Magic Flowers Droned 15. theres a few more i really dont wannt forget to mention even though ive already gone beyond 15, but that is just more testament to the absolute brilliance of this label; factums-alien natives (this is what acid punk should always sound like), fabolous diamonds lp (one of the most addictive sounds ive ever heard, the best white person's dub as post punk band since the pop group), us girls lp (my second fave album of last year so this should be higher on the list but i dont wanna go back), teenage panzkerdrops-harmful, oper'azione nafta-cavuu (this band honestly reminds me of the first time i heard boredoms' 'soul discharge', its just like a manic mix of thrash, atonal noise, and pounding caveman jazz) also got the new blues control lp coming out soon, as well as eat skull. i wanan be a siltbreeze publicist. |

i still go back to the early stuff...definitely have time for things up until _Houston_. Quote:
one of my favorite moments was listening to an early version of "Escape Velocity" on my walkman (i wonder if i still have that demo tape in my attic...) while flying to New Zealand and watching the sunrise from the airplane window. during that trip i also heard SY's "Expressway To Yr Skull" on some Dunedin college radio station which was very fitting. |
