Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

I mean new movies. In the theater.

I saw The Da Vinci Code about a week ago. Terrible. Thinking about seeing the X-Men movie, but I'm pretty sure it'll suck too.

Has anybody seen a good movie in the theater lately?

krastian 05.30.2006 03:19 AM

Psssh....I haven't even seen a movie in the theatre since Revenge of the Sith. There really hasn't been anything lately that has made me really say, "fuck yeah, I'm going to this for sure." I am anxiously awaiting the Reno 911 movie though. I heard X-Men 3 kind of sucked.

acousticrock87 05.30.2006 03:22 AM

I liked Silent Hill. Lot of people didn't, though.

Movies coming out soon that might be good:

A Prarie Home Companion. I like Robert Altman. I also like Lindsay Lohan, but in a different way.

Nacho Libre. I don't know, Napoleon Dynamite was sort of funny. Might be a good popcorn movie.

Wordplay. A documentary about the New York Times crossword puzzle. Mmmmm.

The Road to Guantanamo. Documentary partly directed by Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People). Guess what it's about.

The Great New Wonderful. Sounds OK. Maybe. I like Jim Gaffigan and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Strangers With Candy. Feature length prequel to the TV show. Doesn't matter if it really blows, I'll probably see it.

krastian 05.30.2006 03:31 AM

Yeah Wordplay looks interesting for some reason. Nacho Libre might be funny because Jack Black is nuts.....I liked The School of Rock. I thought it was really "cute."

Reno 911 movie? Awesome. I didn't know they were doing that.

I haven't gone to the pictures recently but I did watch the abyss last night for the first time. Brilliant film I thought.

screamingskull 05.30.2006 06:37 AM

i went to see X Men last week, it was okay not as good as the first 2 though. i would love to go and see Brick, its the second film by the guy that made Donnie Darko.

h8kurdt 05.30.2006 06:42 AM

A friend went to see that (Brick) he said it was ok. Not bad but ok he said the main character seemed to be trying to be humphrey bogart too much.

Don't think i'll see it. Not through choice mind it's just that our local cinmeas only focus on the "blockbuster". *pulls angry face*

Time to give away some reps. I like them all... especially Gummo!

acousticrock87 05.30.2006 09:35 AM

I will be boycotting X-Men 3. You know...for moral reasons. Mainly, Gambit isn't in it. The evil bastards.

Three movies and all they can swing is his name on a computer screen.

luxinterior 05.30.2006 09:41 AM

I rented Transamerica. It was fab.

Tokolosh 05.30.2006 09:58 AM

I really enjoyed A History of Violence.
William Hurt plays a real sick character!

I loved it... Brilliant, especially when Viggo has to defend his family in front of his own house. Brutally engaging.
