Providence covers compilation
 

Open invitation to board members, friends, and idols to cover "Providence." The point being to organize all the contributions into an mp3 compilation album---or maybe just post them all to a "Providence" covers blog. What d'ya think?

The same thing is already being done, except is all songs, not just Providence.

Yeah, I noticed the general sonic gossip covers project, but I also noticed there was some controversy regrading the curator, etc. I'm talking about a totally democratic thing, and an ongoing thing (which is why a blog might be a good idea). Also, focusing on one song, and a very unsonglike one at that, allows for much greater room for interpretation, creativity, and will hopefully build something absurdly enduring. It could be so cool it's stupid, and so stupid it's cool again, if you know what I mean.

Maybe, to conserve on bandwidth and make the admin's job easier, one or two versions could go up for a week, then be replaced by others...to return upon special request...if they were all up simultaneously, as the thing grew, it'd get unmanageable. Unless sonicyouth.com wants to host?

The controversy was with the old curator, not the new one, which is pretty much me (but I am open for the posistion to be filled by somebody else if they'd like).

Oh, I don't mind. I see what you're trying to do. I just thought maybe you'd enjoy the all-song idea.

I get my 8-track studio back in a few weeks so I'll probably record something for you.

It could be interesting to make this compilation a "Sonic Youth piano songs" tribute, I mean songs as Providence, Secret Girl, etc, well I think it could be interesting, but it's already a very good idea ^^
