Clerks II

It does not disappoint.

alyasa 07.22.2006 12:41 AM

Oh yeah, Jay and Silent Bob...

finding nobody 07.22.2006 12:44 AM

im goin to see it tommorow man!

LifeDistortion 07.22.2006 01:07 AM

Is it as good or better then "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"?

schizophrenicroom 07.22.2006 03:05 AM

glad to hear it was good. i've been so excited for it. clerks is one of my all-time favorites. i think i'm seeing it in the next few days.

truncated 07.22.2006 03:40 AM

Clerks wasn't bad, but I must say, I'm not at all big on Kevin Smith. Overly lauded direction that started out bland, and simply progressed to bland and stylized.

The Jay & Silent Bob gimmick was funny in Clerks; after 87 movies, it begins to wear thin.

Toilet & Bowels 07.22.2006 08:44 AM

yeah. and there's an over riding sense of smugness and self-satisfaction in kevin smith films.

jon boy 07.22.2006 09:06 AM

i really get annoyed by silent bob and jay. well just the twats that copy them or are like them in real life.

yeah, i suppose there is a jay and silent bob in every town, and my town's "jay and silent bob" are two total twats!... so whats a chap to think?

afterthefact 07.22.2006 11:21 AM

I've never been a huge Kevin Smith fan. His films just have a certain vibe that I just don't relate with I guess.

I would say it was better than Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

In Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob are not as prominent as they were in other Kevin Smith movies. They are important in the movie in the same way they are important in the first Clerks.

The color film makes sense with the movie, as well as most of the soundtrack (although not as good as the original Clerks soundtrack, I was hoping Olaf would make an appearance.)

The message in the movie is a bit more fulfilling than "shit or get off the pot."

I'd say I'm more of a Clerks fan than a Kevin Smith fan. I don't praise everything that Kevin Smith does, but I really, really love Clerks, and I found Clerks II lives up to it.

I do hope an unrated version or extended version gets released. I'd really love to see Randall pissing off customers more.

afterthefact 07.22.2006 11:54 AM

I've seen a lot of Kevin Smith stuff, and like I said, I'm not a huge fan, but I've actually never seen Clerks. My mom rented it when it came out, but I never watched it.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 07.22.2006 12:03 PM

You have to watch Clerks. It is his best movie.

afterthefact 07.22.2006 12:14 PM

I think I will give it a shot...

screamingskull 07.22.2006 12:44 PM

i saw a clip of it on the Conan O'Brian show, its looks pretty lame from what i saw, but if all you guys think its great then i will give it a look when it comes out over here!

noisemachine 07.22.2006 01:01 PM

Clerks is great. I can't wait to see Clerks 2 which should be very soon. I enjoyed all the Kevin Smith movies with the exception of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Hopefully this is much better.

Alex's Trip 07.22.2006 01:16 PM

Kevin Smith is on the Henry Rollins show tonight...

I want to see this movie soon. I'm afraid it is going to suck shit, but I really have hope that it is going to be better than JASBSB, or better than Dogma...

nomadicfollower 07.22.2006 01:18 PM

Saw part of one of Jay and Silent Bob's movies, or one they were in. In the particular scene they were shooting some sci-fi movie scene....anyway, I was bored and turned it off.

afterthefact 07.22.2006 03:29 PM

noisemachine, that is like the hottest picture of Kim I have ever seen, god bless you...

!@#$%! 07.22.2006 03:35 PM

clerks was ok, though i fell asleep the first time i watched it (probably the booze). it had some funny parts but blah blah etc. i'll check out II however but does the cinematography merit a big screen, or should i wait for the DVD? im thinking dvd...

afterthefact 07.22.2006 03:36 PM

jay and slient bob piss me off. but I'm still gonna give clerks a chance, cause it's not fair to judge it by Kevin Smith's other stuff...

Trasher02 07.22.2006 03:41 PM

word!

afterthefact 07.22.2006 03:50 PM

well, you gotta respect what they stand for...

schizophrenicroom 07.22.2006 03:54 PM

I hate JASBSB. I like in-jokes in movies, but when the whole fucking movie is just "lol, remember this? we're so clever" it grates.

nicfit 07.22.2006 03:58 PM

afterthefact 07.22.2006 04:14 PM

fuck it, I'm going to see it now, everybody seems to love it, it can't be too bad

LifeDistortion 07.22.2006 05:32 PM

Joel Seigal didn't love it, he walked out during the movie. LoL!

afterthefact 07.22.2006 05:44 PM

haha, well, he doesn't affect my opinion too much :)

Man, this movie is a THOUASAND times better than Jay and Silenent Bob Strike Back. That movie kind of sucked. Clerks II is easily one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I was honestly a little worried about the film, being a big-budget sequel of a great indie film from a decade ago, but it's even funnier than the original. Non-stop laughs throughout the entire movie.

kingcoffee 07.22.2006 08:37 PM

I give the film 5 stars. Pure comedy genius.

Please don't tell me that you liked Jersey Girl. That was one of the worst movies ever made. Ben Affleck needs to die for his crimes against cinema.

There is a certain shot of Jay that you HAVE to see in the theater.

TeamRamRod 07.23.2006 04:44 PM

"Lord?"

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 07.23.2006 04:56 PM

Silent Bob plays a song from a certain movie, and Jay reenacts a scene from it.

If you must know (spoiler, highlight to read)
Jay does the Buffalo Bill "Do you wanna fuck me, I wanna fuck me" scene from Silence of the Lambs, it goes to another scene, then when you see him again, he is standing there naked with his genatalia tucked back.

atsonicpark 07.23.2006 07:15 PM

Smith hasn't done anything decent since Mall Rats.

Apparently my name pops up at the myspace thank yous part of the film though.

Daycare Nation 07.23.2006 07:45 PM

I just saw it. I laughed a lot.

CHOUT 07.24.2006 12:07 AM

It was pretty good...that dance scene to the Jaxxsun 5 was so incredibly pointless...I was kind of appalled by it like in Magnolia when everyone starts singing along to that Aimee Mann song...stoopid.

I was hoping for more cameos from people in the original one...a catatonic Caitlin Bree or some shit.
