Hahaha, what do ya think? The supposed Moe Tucker doesn't come in till near the very end of the video. |
I'm furious about the incredible waste of money when things that we really need and are important get dropped because there's no money left.
You think the candidates Beck and the Koch Brothers got you supporting are for those things? |
"When fascism comes to America, it will be waving a flag ("We need to restore honor to America") and carrying a cross ("It's time for the country to get back to God")." -Sinclair Lewis
Isn't it funny how these people think Obama is pushing the country toward socialism when they're the ones acting like the Bolsheviks? |
what would Bono do?

I am half Swedish, half American and all my Swedish "socialist" friends have it better than my American friends. They have health care, 5 week vacations, more luxuries, less crime, affordable education, etc. I think Tea Baggers are holding back America from better things. |
the politicans they support are, fact is Tea Baggers don't know what they think but you try scratching below the surface and you find what they'd like to see is quite different from the Randian anarcho-capitalism they've been tricked into supporting, just look at the line about money for needed and important things.

Do people in America really know what socialism means?
Socialism is good for the non-rich poor working people, which I presume is most of the SYG. If you work 50 hours a week in retail, socialism is your friend. It is not soviet workers marching down the street with tanks and incompetence. get a grip people |

about 45%-60% of Americans are ignorant of this. |
Socialism is good for the non-rich poor working people
like the demographic that constitutes the teaparty, so naturally they had to be organized to oppose such ideas at the time when their minds might start to drift (plus also keep the base primed and motivated between elections much as they did in the 1990s with all kinds of Clinton hysteria) |
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
That's all many education-fearing backward redneck "Americans" needed to hear What the Tea Party morons want isn't the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave so much as it is a theocracy filtered through some kind of 1950s Americana lens. |
death to america!

oh god...ignorance is the REAL opiate of the people..

its a good job the Velvet Underground are so overrated innit

Well, this sucks, but then Neil Young fell for Reagan and actually campaigned for him when Reagan ran against Carter (despite being Canadian!), and the Ramones described themselves as right-wingers for years. Both came around eventually as the lyrics to "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" and "Keep On Rocking in the Free World" demonstrate. People get boondoggled and make dumb decisions, when you're famous it's just more embarrassing on a large scale.

and james brown supported nixon

Not sure why this is suddenly news now - it was discussed on the Velvets forum when the video was released 18 months ago.

I've heard that too, but I read an interview with Joey when "Bonzo Goes to Bittburg" came out (I think it was actually in the first issue of Spin, which had Sonic Youth on the cover if I'm remembering right, too) where he explained the song saying (paraphrased, not quoted), "I mean, we're right wingers, but that was just too much to excuse genocide". After that they sure appeared to get increasingly involved in "liberal" causes. |
*The Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker
has spoken for the first time since local TV footage emerged online suggesting she was a supporter of the Tea Party movement in the US. The drummer was filmed at a rally staged by the anti-tax pressure group's supporters and even gave an interview to a local TV station at the event this summer. However, speaking to Riverfronttimes.com, Tucker has denied she is right wing, and is merely voicing her opposition to President Obama's administration as a dissatistified Democrat voter. "Anyone who thinks I'm crazy about Sarah Palin, Bush, etc has made quite the presumption," she declared. "I have voted Democrat all my life, until I started listening to what Obama was promising and started wondering, 'How the hell will this Utopian dreamland be paid for?' For those who actually believe that their taxes won't go up in order to pay for all this insanity: good luck!" She added that she did not necessarily hold "conservative views", but judged her politicial stance on an "issue by issue basis". "I never paid attention to what the hell was going on. My always voting Democrat was the result of that. My philosophy was and is all politicians are liars, bums and cheats," Tucker explained. "I make decisions on an issue by issue basis. I'm far more of an independent than a conservative or liberal. I don't agree with all of either side, and I think anyone who claims to is either a fool or a damn liar." The drummer said she was particularly upset by Obama trying to pass the buck for America's economic problems. "I disagree with an administration that for 20 months blames Bush," she explained. "If the President and his minions are so damn smart, why didn't they know the severity of the situation? The president has actually said - and I saw it on video - that they didn't know!" Tucker admitted she had been surprised by the coverage that had been afforded her news interview, and the reactions to her views. "I'm stunned that so many people who call themselves liberal yet are completely intolerant," she said. "I thought liberals loved everyone: the poor, the immigrant, the gays, the handicapped, the minorities, dogs, cats, all eye colours, all hair colours! Peace, love, bull! Curious they have no tolerance whatsoever for anyone who doesn't think exactly as they do. You disagree and you're immediately called a fool, a Nazi, a racist. That's pretty fucked up! I would never judge someone based on their political views. Their honesty, integrity, kindness to others, generosity? Yes. Politics? No!" Tucker, who said she is no longer involved in music, has not heard from any of her one-time bandmates in The Velvet Underground since the incident, but declared: "Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a fool, a racist, a Nazi. Anyone who knows me knows I'm afraid of flying, afraid of bugs, but not afraid to say what I think." |
Liberals are cunts of the highest order. Hypocritical ones at that.
