new job prospects

The employment rate is fairly high in my country.. and I actually haven't had a "real" job in about 4 months.

So it's time to try for something new.

Suggestions please?

I'd like to become one of those guys who goes around the world visiting beautiful countries and then get back home to write some articles+pics or something reporting about their travels and get paid for that.

^^^^

Perhaps this could be a good idea for you too?

I hope that one day in my life I can tell an anecdote about the time I met the guy who did this. I would be sooooo happy.

I'm waiting for a call back to set up an interview to work at an American Apparel.

EDIT: nevermind, interview got cancelled. position already filled.

projectionist can actually be kinda hard, especially if its in a multiplex. you spend half your day running around between screens.

profesional namer - you just think of names for new products. that would be a good job.

"How about 'wankalar'?"

"We've been through this several times now Mr Glice, the product name MAY NOT feature the word 'wank'."

"Ok. How about Wankstickywankwank?"

yeh I was going to start on the job for this, but left the job since I wasnt going to be around past the three months it was going to take to really be okay with it all. It'd be fun though. High paced stuff where I need to actually use my brain a little bit is better than mind numbing boring work.

:( that sucks

Kloriel 04.17.2009 03:39 AM

Here are some good jobs:

model tester (not that kind of model, sheesh)
you get to build prototype model airplanes, cars, and ships. Then evaluate the process and let the company know of any glitches. There are only 3 positions world wide. The highest profile is some hotshot out of University of Maine that works for lockheed martin. Then there's Aaron over in Singapore. I think he's pushing 90 now, haven't spoken for years.

I've got the third spot and I'd only trade it for the other kind of model testing. You know, the one you first thought of which made me say sheesh.

phoenix 04.17.2009 03:54 AM

not sure I could get you a job testing models :(

not sure I could build prototypes, even if I could get you a job testing models. :(

damn.

my friend knows a guy whose job it is to design Transformers for a living

Kloriel 04.17.2009 06:09 AM

like the toy transformers that just had the movie? I'm surprised to hear they still make the toys. I guess maybe they started it up again around movie time? Or have they been pumping out those things since the 80s?

they've been pumping them out since the 80s, the guy had to move to japan to get the job though.

Kloriel 04.17.2009 08:40 AM

learning every day. at least now I understand why transformers wouldn't just die. if only the people behind masters of the universe had been more stalwart and feisty.
