Don't remember much of the first two but Curse was great but the fourth one was pretty lame with the 3D.

Kool! i didn't think you would actually start this thread (ok maybe i did :D )

TSOMI is my fav as i too have fond memories of this game, did you manage to finish this without cheating? there usually comes a point in these games where i get stuck and after trying to every combination of using items together i had to look for some help, i don't think i have played 3 TCOMI so i might have to track down a copy. i also have EFMI which was ok but i prefer the old 2D games to the new 3D ones.

will there ever be a monkey island 5?

what other games can anyone recommend that are similar to the MI series?
they don't make games like TSOMI anymore do they? this was the golden age for gaming if you ask me

Well, I think this thread will mostly rely on memories of Monkey I and II ...
I think I finished both without cheating, the only adventure game I distinctly remember I needed to search for a solution for was Sam & max (the old 2d one, not the newer episodes) ,when you have to recover something from the giant ball of wool.

Almost any LucasArts game will do the trick: Day of The Tentacle, Sam & Max, Dig...god I love those classics.

Don't forget the amazing indiana jones and the fate of atlantis.

dumb spielberg should have made a movie out of that instead of that crappy skulls thing.

i go through wierd stages with computer games, at the moment i can't be bothered with them at all also i lack the spare time i used to have when i was unemployed. the only games i have bought in the last 5 years have probably been the GTA games for PS2, i would like to get the new GTA game for the PS3 but will not buy a console purely for 1 game and blu ray player, maybe if they dramaticaly come down in price i might think about it,

not THAT cool, still better than 99% nowadays games.

Not the best, but the soundtrack was awesome (Gone Jackals).

AHHH! I love Monkey Island with a passion! Might be time to play thru them again.... 4 was a bit naff though.

Also Grim Fandango... that was a really excellent game and story and art. Some of my favourite games of all time.

I still ain't played the new sam and max's yet... I waiting for them to come out on wiiware

The third one was way awesome. One of those games you can enjoy at any age.

i couldn't stand the "jokes" in sam and max, whoever wrote the dialogue for that game thinks they're a lot funnier than they really are.
monkey island one was cool, two i remember not being that into. day of the tentacle was way too short.
grim fandango is the best of all the lucas arts games in my opinion.
i really like the first two broken sword games too, although i know they aren't lucas arts.

did this with the below sprite rip, then got a bit bored and stopped.

I never got to play Grim Fandango. I really wanted to, but I have little interest now.

I haven't tried the "new episodes" yet (I heard contrasting things on that stuff), but the revamped version of the original imo lost a lot of charisma with the edited graphics...I love my heroes pixelated.

Tales of Monkey might be interesting, but I'm not sure yet. I definitely don't like the way it looks. But one could look past that if the jokes/story/gameplay were genuinely good. But alas, if it's not Ron Gilbert, I'm not interested.
