|
Nintendo have officially left this planet.
|
Revolution was a much better name, however it was never an official name. Just a code name for it. I was suprised they released that information before E3.
|
I just think of that flower on bill and ben programme
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee (gradually go higher when saying it) |

"Dude, somebody just jacked my Wii"
|
What the fuck is a Wii. I'm lost.
|
the name of their new console is called the Nintendo Wii, it was going under the title of Nintendo revolution
|
Yeah I get that, but what does Wii mean/stand for?
|
how the hell do you pronounce that? Y?
|
Wee?
|
who cares if it's the wii now. All the idiots on the videogame review sites are all pissed off like That's the stupidest name ever. Who gives a shit what it's called. I think Wii is kind of cool. If it has good games and it's called Satan's Cock I'll play it

From Gamesarefun.com:
Posted by Richard Brownell at 12:34:46 PM EST on 4.27.2006. Nintendo, in a surprise announcement today, finally revealed the name of their upcoming home console. Formerly known as Revolution, it will known be known as simply Wii. That is pronounced as "we" not "why?" or "weeeeeeeeeeee" though that last one might be the sound made by Nintendo investors jumping out the window after hearing this name. Needless to say, with such a goofy name, we were a bit skeptical when hearing of this news. But it's real. You can see a video revealing it on the Nintendo of America site as well as the Nintendo of Japan site (no gameplay shown for the curious, although there were some "i"s shooting things and playing tennis). Nintendo's message is this: Introducing ... Wii. ![]() What follows now is a brief (I promise) editorial on this change. If you are only here for the news, you've got it all. Why the change? So now you see that the name of the Revolution has been changed to a simple pun. Puns are great for quick corny jokes at parties and on greeting cards, but probably not the best for a product meant to appeal to millions (or billions). iGame would have been less cheesy. And the pun doesn't end at Wii and we. The controller is no longer the "Revmote." It is now the "Wiimote." And when fanboys are looking to bash the system (as in GayCube instead of GameCube), they can now call it Wiitarded. Nintendo had a lot of force behind the Revolution name, much as they did with the Nintendo DS. But they've opted to change the name, in what reaks of a decision by committee in the marketing dept trying to come up with "something witty" that should "appeal to the masses." I think they've come up with neither. I think Wii is a potentially confusing name that will simply provoke a lot of awkward conversations in game stores. And I don't think it's too far fetched to see how similar it is to WWII. You wouldn't think a company from a country that tries to forget its part in such a war would come so close to naming a product after it. Take that image of Mario's face over the planet and add a "Wii" onto it. Just be careful not to hit the W twice. In the end, sales and not editorials like this one will decide whether the name change was good. Or rather, perhaps sales will determine whether the name of the system even matters to begin with. The rest of GAF staff may not agree with me (listen to the next podcast to find out), but suffice it to say, I prefer "Revolution." |
what the fuck is wii?
|
What the fuck is a DS. (digital stimulation? dick suck? dirty shit?)
What the fuck is a GAMEBOY! (sounds like a faggoty porn) What the fuck is a NINTENDO? Who gives a shit? It's the games that matter. Nintendo are brilliant. Fuck off. |
i'm going to have fun playing with my wii

nintentdo's explanation is so...deep.

i'm glad they changed it.
"revolution" sounded like some cheap matrix knock-off |
There's only two things that are currently bugging me about the Wii
1. Is the fact that there may be a japanese cooking simulation game released in japan. People speculate it won't be released in the US because it won't sell well but I think it will. I'm sorry but a fucking " COOKING " game?? There have been some creative games in the past like Katamari Damacy, Flight sims, Psychonauts, workout games, Zombies Vs. Ambulances, but a fucking COOKING game? I rarely say this but that is just such a dumb idea, and you know all the Anime nerds will buy it and play it, just like uggh nintendogs, another bad one. Zombies Vs. Ambulances was never released in the U.S. why don't they release that. It looks kick ass 2. The other thing that's bothering me is Mario 128, which supposedly will be finished by the time Wii comes out. I wanna play a new " MARIO " game. Not a new mario SUNSHINE game. One of the presidents in japan said it may be a new Mario Sunshine, which is probably a yes. Damnit, there hasn't been a new straight Mario game since Mario 64, but that sucked so in my opinion there hasn't been one since Mario world. There are some awesome looking titles though, Red Steel, Orb, Thorn, Metroid Prime 3, and they just rumors but I freaking hope to god " Nights 2 " and " Pilotwings 3 " |

dead on about mario- sunshine was terrible. I didn't mind 64 that much, but Mario World and Yoshi's Island owns all. |
one thing that interests me is will the one handed controller be able to be flipped and used like an NES pad only for the downloadable NES games or for Wii games as well

Isn't Nights a Sega game? Would it be released on Nintendo? Nights is one of the funnest games ever.......especially on the weed. |
Nintendo should have named their forthcoming new console Moto after Shigeru Miyamoto. (click for wiki link)
they could have had a whole campaign around "My Moto" which sounds like a rough anglicized version of "Miyamoto". |
Sega makes games for Nintendo now. And other companies. Hence 50000 sonic games on every system.

Nights into Dreams ruled on the Saturn. When i had my Dreamcast, I was always hoping that they would make a sequel. Man, if Sega made another system, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But that's just a dream. I still have my Dreamcast, and it's my favorite console. |

Are there going to be downlodable NES games? That would fucking rule. |

I know man me too. I just assumed they'd make one for the Dreamcast. I mean, COME ON! |
I was in the snes megadrive wars, and have been nintendo to the bone since, Gamecube was underated and the N64 had Goldeneye, Whatever they come up with next is bound to be cool.

yes, nintendo announced that their entire back catatlog from nes to 64 will be downloadable on their new console. It'll probably be some sort of pay-to-play thing. maybe you'll purchase it and it will stay on the system's hardrive. hopefully there will be old famicom and japan only releases available. |
