Cocktails!
Hello! I am going to ATP this weekend and I was wondering if everyone could recommend their favourite (easy to make) cocktails so that I can buy some tasty spirits to drink there.
Last time I went we drank lots of White Russians, which was good, but we want to branch out! |
Southern comfort, amorillo and pineapple juice. works every time.
rum and ginger is also good. try an rl burnside cocktail called a bloody mutherfucka: the cheapest nastiest whisky you can find, tomato juice and tobasco. drink it and make sure your in running distance of the bathroom. |
Long Island Iced Tea
|
kegmama reccomended margharetas and i got hooked i have to say.
|
I like a manhattan with extra cherries. Very cold.

so.....they will actually let you into ATP with drinks?
you practically get a full body cavity search whenever there's a show here. I can't tell you how many times that I've been too drunk because I had to drink whatever it was that I had before I went into the venue. |
Nah, ATP are pretty shitty over the alcohol thing. Each of the venue's bars is seperately licnced, and you can only drink drinks bought in that bar within the bar - so you can't take a drink bought in one bar into another, and you can't take a drink bought outside one of the music venues into the venue. But obviously you can drink whatever you want in the privacy of your own chalet, which is, I guess, where Lucy will be doin' her boozin'.
Oh yeah, Lynchburg Lemonade. |
no drinks on the stage! how many times did i hear that!
|
Cosmo's, Sour apple Martini, Midori sour (ladie's love that drink when I make it) Ammaretto sour, & last but not least Lemon drops.

i just realized, if you like creamy drinks, bailey's on the rocks would be the easiest (and most delicious) way to get plastered. |

Kidding! Of course, if I am drunk, and I see you with a Cosmo, I'll probably remember this post in a foggy haze and think it would be funny to do this anyway, so watch out. As for me, if it's not beer, than it is vodka OR rum. I learned to emphasize the "or" the hard way. |
well rum with a splash of fruit juice usually gets my goat pretty good.

you are driving me to drink, you know? anyhoo, i stick to simple crap mostly, juice and vodka or soda and whiskey, or straight up whatever. |
sweet drinks are only good to seduce reluctant señoritas
|
or perhaps you can skip the froo froo crap and approach the ladies pounding scotch like it's going out of style...it's a win win.
same with the beer drinking damsels, their breath smells just as bad as yours. |

stay classy san diego. I'm not much for cocktails. I'll take Silver Patron neat. |

perfection -- ps if you keep a bottle of this at home heres a great recipe for the season get some fresh strawberries (they are cheeeap these days!), wash well cos they grow on the crap, toss with some granulated sugar and a splash of good tequila.-- just a splash to get them all wet. let them sit there for... 30 minutes maybe? tossing them occassionally to make sure all get equal juice coverage. eat for dessert. |
all this talk about drinks make me want to go to a bar...i'll go see if i have some spare change...
|
i actually like herradura, i dont think ive ever drank patrón... with an authoritarian name like that, hah hah, to remind you of what the peons drink.
-- everyneurotic, go to a proper cantina, with good botanas, while they still exist. |
are you kidding me?! those will never disappear!! they're all good, old guys playing domino, the tv playing local soccer matches, peanuts and totopos, bartenders with bow ties (some have them). 10 minutes from my house on foot, there a re a couple of pulquerias, i've never tried it, though, i definitely would like to.
man, i don't like tequila, i only drink it when i'm already blindingly drunk, last time i downed tequila as a starting drink it led to one of the worst nights of my life. but jimador is probably the best...have you tried the sangrita? around the block from my house, there's this pool parlour, i mean, the old kind of place, i love it; the tables are fucking wide, the carpetting smooth...if i wasn't so sick of beer, i would go there and shoot a little. |
there is this famous one though where they still have the shots of pancho villa on the ceiling or something? or am i hallucinating?
|
all the historical crap is here, are you talking about the cafe de tacuba?
it's the good thing about here, there's a lot of preservation going around, it's really cool. |
i dont know, ive never been, ive heard of great cantinas though
all i remember is sanborn's (i was a kid) |
there's a sanborn's right across the street from my house.
incidentaly, it is said around here that the most depressing place where you can go get hammered here is the sanborn's bar, it's always semi dark, there's a piano player and no more than 3 people at a time, and they are mostly middle aged and faced down in the bar or tables. |
ha ha, i only remember waffles... there was some mall.. hierro... something... man i was like 6... we stayed in the hotel del prado which ended up dying during the quake i hear
--- ps i gotta go, have fun @ the cantina man. |
![]() ![]() Caipirinha's are the shit! Three of these will put you in your place, let me tell ya. Ingredients for one glass of Caipirinha 1 lime & 1 Lemon Cachaça granulated sugar two icecubes (preferably crushed ice) Preparation Cut a lime into pieces and put these in a flat-bottomed glass. Add one or two spoons of sugar (Brazilians like it probably sweeter than you do). Crush the lemon with a pestle or a spoon to release its juice. Add the ice cubes. Some people like to crush the ice before adding, others simply add the whole ice cubes. Add the cachaça while mixing until the lemon and the ice cubes are just covered. Caipivodka? If you replace the cachaça with vodka, you’ll have a drink called caipivodka. |

palacio de hierro, yeah, department store with restaurant and shit, i live in the middle of a busy district because there's one a block away from my house. i heard the hotel del prado was nice, i think they have reconstructed it. i'll probably go tomorrow, i need to get me some good, unaffected sleep today |

but of course! ![]() that recipe sounds HAWT. I'm adding berries to the shopping list. Quote:
holy crap that looks good! I guess you could replace the "Cachaça" (had to cut paste that) with bacardi 151..I might have to try that instead of wodka if I can't find it. Quote:
I only use it sparingly. for the most part I stick with stout beer. tequila is for invincibility!! [multi-edit post to conserve thread spam] |
tequila is for wonder woman :)

got this in my room. |
Mojitos are great but I'm an Irish carbomb man myself!

I figure those drinks are for the ladies but if you see me with anything like a cosmo in my hand I will let you smack me & call me a wuss in public. Fresh & tasty beer & good single malts straight up are my thing brotha... |
