They played Manchester (don't they always?) last week. I was in a funk that day so passed on seeing them. They always seemed better live than on record for me. |
Funny, I would kill to see them. My bandmate and his partner crossed the ocean to see them at the rocket recordings 20th anniversary Festival last week.

Really enjoying the new Screaming Females album. It doesn't feel as vital as the last two albums to me, but still a heap of great moments and individual songs.
My state just elected the first conservative government in 15 years yesterday, so I'm cranking this and pretending the world doesn't exist for a couple of days. It's working so far! https://youtu.be/LhJ0n5G5jCo |

I knaaaawwww!! We’ll see though. We’ll see. A Kanye album, a Kanye collab, and THREE top-to-bottom Ye produces joints in the next two months? Somehow I doubt everything will shake out that way. |
The glass is half empty with this one, haha

I think the best solution is that I cut off my ears

Nah. Not like these are Drake projects. |
the latest release from Constellation Records will be a reissue:

There's one song for streaming on their site. But the original album can be streamed here. It reminds me a little bit of the solo album of Jessica Moss |

Since Big Stick has been saying they've been working on a new album for the past 24 years, I've been taking the "updates" on their facebook page with a grain of salt. But apparently it's for real this time. They've received and listened to a test pressing of the vinyl version. They say the new album will be released in the spring (we're already there, though you wouldn't know it by the weather where I live) or summer. Really looking forward to this one.

There will be not one but TWO live albums released of Oiseaux Tempete this year !!!!
First one: ![]() This was recorded in 2016, and will be released on June 1 2018, in an edition of only 300 CD's. Links: https://www.forcedexposure.com/Catal...PTD.023CD.html https://boomkat.com/products/the-tru...d-dunsany-live https://www.shinybeast.nl/item/46122...se_the_ha.html Second one: This one is named TARAB طَرَبٌ and will be released as a 2xLP (but hopefully also on CD or even DVD?) on the Sub Rosa label later this year. It's not listed yet anywhere, but there's already a YT clip of it: OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE - CARNAVAL (LIVE) It was recorded at the Trabendo in Paris, and I was there :D And I so much hope that this release will be complete and unedited, the final encore song is as far unreleased and it was mind-blowingly awesome |
New fucking DJ KOZE comes out tomorrow!
Five years of waiting! Knock knock, motherfuckers! ![]() |
not necessarily most anticipated, but this is an interesting combo:
Chantal Acda & Bill Frisell - Live At Jazz Middelheim it will be released on 25.05.2018 listen to one track already on YT: Chantal Acda & Bill Frisell - Son (Live at Jazz Middelheim) I Glitterhouse Records |
![]() On my first listen Jon Hopkins' new album. It's been a ling time coming but it's been totally worth it. Loving it. |
Quote:
Nice. I’ll have to hear this. And you’ll have to hear Knock Knock. |
I listened to the BBC session by Jon Hopkins and actually liked it, even though this is normally not my kind of music
(there's two songs in between interviews) DJ Koze is not for me I prefer SMOG's Knock Knock :) |
Quote:
You sure? You’ve listened and you’re sure? Because Koze is for lovers bro |

I was actually looking at listening to that. The weather has been beautiful this bank holiday weekend and that seems like the right album to jam right now. Feel like most of this year I've been in a rut of music. Nothing was interesting me at all. Even bands I love I just wasn't bothered by. Here's hoping this drag me out of it. |
Quote:
It’s definitely the best album of the year, so far. Easily. Sucks you right in just like its predecessor. I’ve also been under-enthused about music this year. Except for Koze. |

I was thinking the Smog album. I liked that movie tho. Anyway new old Flaming Lips is out. Also, a new Belly album cake out. Wtf? New Breeders and Belly in the same year. I like that. |
Quote:
“Knock Knock” by DJ Koze aka Kosi Koze aka Adolph Noise is the em-effing ess. Yeah there’s a new Belly. New old Lips? More like new same-old-same-old Lips. Isn’t it just, like, the first disc of “Finally the Punk Rockers..:” only “re”-remastered? Bah. |
I really like Tanya Donelly's voice as she's matured. The new Belly is just lovely songwriting and feels very much connected to their older work. Really enjoying it

I know. I was mucking about. As for the fucking movie, I've never brought myself to watch it, actually, due to the shit premise; worse, just now I read the credits — the people involved are wretched douchebags and I never should have even posted that stupid image. |
There's that Soup cheer! :)
|
I must spread some Reputation around before giving it to noisereductions again.

WILL SOMEONE JUST FUCKING LISTEN TO THE BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR ALREADY?!!?!!? Dj Koze. “Knock Knock.” Educate yaself. |
Ok. So you posted a song of his awhile ago. I listened. At first I thought you were trolling. He uses these really corny, shitty sounds, but just as I was ready to turn it off, I heard something that grabbed my ear and suggested a deeper intelligence at work. I've skimmed the album on Spotify, but haven't really had time to absorb it. I find it difficult to judge right away because there's stuff I don't like mixed with some intriguing work. Gimme some time.
I get your frustration. I don't think anyone listened to this, but it's great and made by a fundamentally decent person: https://tantramoon.bandcamp.com/album/red-mother EDIT: Just noticed which thread I was in. The link above was released in 2016. Disregard away. |

Oh yeah, I think I remember that. No I was/am not trolling, and I’ve been singing Koze’s praises loudly and whenever I can on this forum and everywhere else since I heard “Amygdala” in 2013. That blew my mind. Took a few listened for it to really sink in, but it’s a deeply textured and layered album full of eccentric whimsy AND positively infectious, stanky ass beats and grooves. It’s dance music for your brain, only it’s not “IDM,” nor is it bmphf-tsss-bmpfh-tsss dumbass nonsense. It’s dance music for the club of dreams (derr!) that’s just really, really, really fucking out there and well done. If you have time, just listen to the first track on the new album. It’s instrumental, and sublimely lowkey, with a flute riff that will make your soul float. I don’t know if I can trust anyone who can listen to it (or any of his other first tracks, like “Track ID Anyone?” from “Amygdala” or the beautiful remix of Super Flu’s “Jo Gurt”) without wanting/needing to hear more. Not trolling. He’s the best and most inventive artist in electronic music... at least on the more happy/non-harsh experimentation side of things. EVERYONE LISTEN TO DJ KOZE |
New Jon Hopkins is indeed awesome.
New Iceage is Ok. Haven’t heard the new Belly |
I didn't think you were trolling. Just enthusiastic about something I probably wouldn't give much thought to if it weren't for your urging.

My vote for album of the year is currently split in three: Hippo Lite — DRINKS The Harder I Call, The Faster It Runs — Wye Oak I can feel you creep into my private life — Tune-Yards Lots and lots of listening still to do... In any case, the fact that this is THE FIRST mention of Tune-Yards' album in this damn thread sure as shit reflects poorly on all of you fuckers. |

Hey, that’s actually a really nice thing to say. Thank you, friend. I come here — admittedly much less of late — to learn and share. So this makes me very happy indeed. |
There’s also a new Mouse on Mars album, “Dimensional People.” Maybe I’ve mentioned it already in one thread or another, but I’m always down for new MoM.
There’s an interesting free-jazz vibe to this new one. My ears can’t quite tell when analogue instruments kick in and when it’s loops/samples/synths and programming. There’s some seriously hot shit on this record though. Damn. Mouse on Mars - “Dimensional People, pt. II” (feat. Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon) |
