i love the new death grips, improved rhymes and production
|
i'm also enjoying the new death grips. i agree with the "more accessible than the last album" consensus

RE: Death Grips - autoquote from other internet shores:
Now that with The Money Store they managed to prove they can be damn impressive even with a slightly less "savage" delivery, I think it's safe to say these guys are great. In my personal opinion, best thing in "experimental hip hop" (argh...) since cLOUDDEAD. And the great thing is that they went in totally opposite direction (cLOUDDEAD being weirdly ethereal/dilated most of the times, Death Grips being much more physical/punchy). |
only liked one song off the new Actress, the rest worked fine as background music though

Wreck and Reference-No Youth
Really rips. I want to see this band live. They remind me of Swans. I'd want to see Swans live too. I haven't. This depresses me. |

The New Mark McGuire collaboration with Spencer Clark from Skaters is pretty cool. It's called Inner Tube and it was released on Pacific Sound Vision. It's much better than his album from last year in my opinion. Stylistically it's very psychedelic with elements of surf rock.

![]() The Flaming Lips- The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. Seriously!!! Believe it or not, this actually holds together really well!! I've been irritated by their apparent lack of interest in releasing anything that wasn't either a) a novelty item, or b) several thousand dollars and creepy... but this collection of highlights plays really well! If you close your eyes an click your heels, you can almost pretend it's an album! ;) FL's are the best, and I really prefer actual albums to random one-off collabos and ep's, so 2011 was kind of a let-down year for me. But this almost makes up for it. It sounds like Embryonic, only with more color and variety. Know what would be even better, though? An actual new Flaming Lips studio album. :o |
![]() There are few songs, that are not great, but this album opening is so great that makes this the great release of 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfJ-EmoQil8 |
![]() Control System by Ab-Soul conceptually this might be the best release to come out of TDE yet (the same group as Kendrick, Schoolboy Q & Jay Rock). Ab-Soul talks about the recent death of his girlfriend Alori Joh (who sang the hook on HiiiPower), as well as the disease he had when he was a kid: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which still affects him to this day. the closing track "The Book of Soul" is the closest to a tear jerker i've heard in a while. damn. |
