Support WILCO 7/28-8/4

TheDom 04.20.2012 03:41 AM

so glad he added a Nashville date!

TheDom 04.20.2012 03:41 AM

& I can see a full set & not pay $20 to see him open for M. Ward

hipster_bebop_junkie 04.26.2012 07:53 PM

Apparently, before he heads out on tour opening for M. Ward and then Wilco, Lee Ranaldo will be performing "Sight Unseen" with Leah Singer at Galerķa Genesco Murta during Vivo arte.mov Festival in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on Sunday, April 29th:

http://labmovel.net/2012/04/24/lee-r...o-audiovisual/

Also, I have the strong impression by reading news around that this performance will be for free. I wish I was in Brazil.

Saw Lee last night in Boston. Fantastic. Left after his set. Had a pretty full house. Great Talking Heads cover of "New Feeling" from Talking Heads 77. Nailed it. Otherwise, pretty much did the whole new album.

narlus 05.09.2012 01:07 PM

i think the Heads cover was "thank you for sending me an angel"

YES!

I have all their albums and have seen them live a couple of times now, they are very good. Check them out...

hypertonic 05.27.2012 05:46 PM

Man I love Tall Firs... good match up. Great electric folk with near psychic guitar interplay. Good shit. Go whiskey.

Lee Ranaldo Band playing Karenology!

_tunic_ 06.04.2012 05:08 PM

Antwerp was great tonight. Both Lee and Steve were sweating their asses off, it's always very warn at the Trix. Apart from the usual songs they played that Talking Heads cover and Neil Young's Walk On , and as encore Stranded and Karenology.
Looks like the recording came out fine, Tall Firs were also taped, probably will like them more after listening to it some more, was too much anticipating to Lee to really appreciate it. So look forward to hear it soon(ish)

But first: D3 on Wednesday

Great to hear, I was there too, at the first row and had a nice chat with Lee afterwards too. Looking forward to hear your recording (soon?).

Thx Lee & the band for an outstanding evening ;)

sirki 06.05.2012 03:50 AM

It was a really superb (and indeed hot) gig yesterday in Antwerp! It's allways great to see a band enjoying themself that much on stage while playing. Thanks Lee & co for a great evening. Couldn't resist buying the demos-LP and the mixes-7" offcourse :)

I recorded 'Karenology' (iPhone). You can watch it here: https://vimeo.com/43447401 Really looking forward to the recording of the whole show.

I also liked Tall Firs a lot. Good gig. I bought their latest LP afterwards. Apparently it came with a digital download-coupon, that also contains 5 covers (including Fri/End) ... which is allways nice :)

SonicBebs 06.05.2012 01:44 PM

really looking forward to tomorow, especially seeing as they've played karenology!!
hopefully it went down well and they'll play it again, or maybe skip tracer??

anyone know who the support band is in london?

It's The Men.

Don't forget to buy that DEMOS album. It's beautiful, just finished listening to it. Comes with a mp3 download coupon too (the 7"doesn't have that)
And most of all ENJOY!

@sirki, you were one of those three tall guys? I was standing next to you then, or behind during the first part ;-)

I was not with the three tall guys, but was standing right next to them. I was the tall guy with the yellow sweater. Looking forward to your recording even more now :)

The DEMOS-album is, indeed, very beautiful!

I really couldn't say. I don't have any of their releases... I've heard people (on here) say good things about them though.

SonicBebs 06.05.2012 03:14 PM

I shall youtube them!

sy2004 06.05.2012 04:00 PM

Damn, if I knew that the demo LP contained an mp3-coupon too, I would have bought it too. Shame they didn't told it.

Color scan of Lee @Trix, Antwerp flyer + scan from original setlist, signed by Lee:

http://www57.zippyshare.com/v/24041951/file.html

:)

Bertrand 06.06.2012 09:14 AM

I was standing above that what-you-call-it-thingy with tons of switches and stuff sunday in Paris; the setlist was there to be seen; I remember it quite well.
It went :

- Angles
- Shouts
- Tomorrow Never Comes
- Off the Wall
- Xtina (Lee saying it came to him thinking about a visit to his hometown, some 20 years after his teenage days; some week-ends, a few parents would leave town, leaving the house to their kids who would invite their friends to try some stuff at night - booze, weed, an encounter with another gender - as people do when they're in their teens; back in his hometown, Lee found some of his former friends, still there, doing the same kind of things they used to before his departure; that got him thinking about how some people move on and some don't feel the need to, without any moral judgment) (that song was brilliant)
- Hammer Blows
- Lost (brilliant)
- Walk On (same)
- Thanks for Sending Me an Angel
- Fire Island
- Waiting on a Dream (brilliant)
---
- Stranded
- Genetic

The venue was a cozy one, and a fair amount of people got the opportunity to have a word with Lee.
Steve, Alan and Irwin (the most reserved) were also accessible.
I could well be the same everywhere they play.

Gazeintospace 06.06.2012 12:25 PM

Oh I do hope I could be with a concert like that.
I am so happy with the album "Between The Times & The Tides"
Any change he'll come to the Netherlands with his band???

_tunic_ 06.06.2012 06:28 PM

not on this tour right now, he'll be in Germany in July together with Disappears. So Cologne will be the closest by probably

damn would have loved to hear Genetic

EVOLghost 06.06.2012 07:58 PM

Lee should come back to Chicago and do his own show and not open for m. Ward. Just sayin'.

Caym 06.07.2012 02:35 AM

Hi,

first post here but a long time invisible guest (and a loooong time SY fan)... Living in Switzerland.
I have the chance to live near the Bad bonn (a small local venue) that organize the Kilbi (small festival, 1500-2000 places) each year since 1991.
last years we have had:
2009 Sonic youth
2010 Lee Ranaldo (experimental set) + Rother/Shelley/Mulan
2011 Disappears
2012 Lee Ranaldo (+ Steve Shelley) with times and tides (1st of june)

So... we're lucky!

THis year the set was pretty good and also ended with Karenology.
I was able to find the 7" and just ordered the demo lp. Can't wait to listen to it!

SonicBebs 06.07.2012 05:02 AM

excellent gig last night. The songs sound so much better live and the band sounded really tight
the 2 accoustic songs were done on electric with some damn fine shuffly beats from big steve

ended with Karenology. sublime.

was very supprised how few people were there.

EVOLghost 06.07.2012 05:04 AM

I seriously fucking hate you all.

Not really, but still.

Bertrand 06.07.2012 07:35 AM

Genetic with Alan Licht on guitar was rougher.
