Now playing: ![]() Desire Pathway by Screaming Females sounds a lot like a mix of 80% Throwing Muses and 20% Dinosaur Jr. Hadn't ever listened to them since this morning, they name doesn't fit their music well. Really like her voice and guitar playing. The songs on this album are perhaps a bit (too) poppy, so I'm also checking out their earlier work. Make this Sunday a Screaming Females Day :D |
also:
The new Bell Witch album is very good! ![]() Future's Shadow Part 1: The Clandestine Gate live it sounded even better though. So go see them live if you get the chance ... |
THE END – Why Do You Mourn (19.5)
Godflesh – Purge (9.6) Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit – Weathervanes (9.6) Ky – Power Is The Pharmacy (12.5) Memorials – Music for Film: Tramps! & Women Against The Bomb (12.5) Kevin Morby - More Photographs (A Continuum) (26.5) Jim O'Rourke – Hands That Bind (OST) (7.7) Daniel O'Sullivan's – Rosarium |

They're good fun. Ugly would be my pick of older albums, Albini produced and a bit rowdier and less pop |
This new Liturgy is....er.....overwhelming....and I'm a Noisehead! I love it though. There's a lot of interludes, which really are needed on this! You need to come up for air at some point.
This Hendrix chick - she must be insane, right? The Necks - Travel - hear it now!! |

I feel like it was a bit crowded, I've enjoyed the Bridgers solo albums I've heard (even if I only listened to them to shut up the most annoying friend I have) but when in this context it's like there's too many competing ideas; I wasn't totally sold. |

Bland music for bland people |

Goddammit, this was released in a limited first pressing of 500 (almost gone), "label edition" of 51 (because it's on The state51 Conspiracy - cute), and extra cassette with additional material (100 copies, virtually gone - I see 3 left at the moment). I don't have the fucking money right now! There better be a second pressing available when I do! ![]() In case you're wondering what Memorials (or MEMORIALS, as they like to stylize it - why do people do that these days? Unless the name of your band is an acronym, keep it bloody simple!) is, it's the duo of Electrelane's Verity Susman and Wire's Matthew Simms, and they're the best thing since all fuck. |

You can call me bland if you want. But imho, boygenius - the record is anything but bland, thank you very much. (Maybe you should actually listen to it?) |
Selvhenter - Mesmerizing (June 23)

ghost music! ![]() https://www.milesdavis.com/albums/th...are-to-forget/ was out on april 21 "Two tracks of the five on the album include unreleased trumpet performances by Miles..." cover looks like the work of pork... i mean genteel death! -- anyway the trumpet is nice but i didn't like the hiphop/spoken word tracks. well the last one has both and it's a lovely voice actually but like poetry slam maybe idk. |
Mick Harvey & Amanda Acevedo - Phantasmagoria In Blue (September 1)
This is nuts and incredibly good: "Love Is A Battlefield" (yes, that one). |
now blonde redhead! IN SEPTEMBER????
SIT DOWN FOR DINNER ![]() there's a sample track out, "snowman", but kazu is not doing the lead vocals in it sounds kinda like music for millennials (lol), (like "dripping" in barragán), so not sure how i feel about it... we'll see about the rest... |
Kristin Hersh - Clear Pond Road (August 8)
|
Guided By Voices - Welshpool Frillies (July 21)
|
Gunn Truscinski Nace - Glass Band (July 28)

John Coltrane with Eric Dolphy - Evenings at the Village Gate (14.7)
|

![]() Oh boy! |
Quote:
Will certainly be buying it but if you have the 1961 Village Vanguard recordings with Dolphy I suspect it will be a lot of the same. Lots of 1 chord vamps and sprawling solos |
Bert Dockx (of Flying Horseman, Dans Dans, Ottla, and solo) will release a new solo/band album later this year. The new single is on bandcamp now!
|
New Slowdive record, Everything Is Alive, all but confirmed for September 1.
|
PJ Harvey is making a new album I think, and The Dresden Dolls are also making a new album! I'm so excited !!!!
|
![]() Bush Tetras - They Live In My Head The first new album since 2012. With Steve Shelley both as the new drummer and the producer. Sounds promising. |

YES! And they very much delivered with the Live At Bush Hall album earlier this year. No surprise there, I've seen them with that material a month before they recorded the Bush Hall gig. Their "interim" stuff is goddamn good, I'm really excited for what they come up next. |
![]() Matana Roberts will have a new album out in September. It's chapter 5 in her Coin Coin Coin series on Constellation Records https://matana-roberts.bandcamp.com/...-in-the-garden https://cstrecords.com/products/cst1...b-fa4eac320a4c |
my highly anticipated album is the new release from Arctic Monkeys. Exciting times are ahead for music lovers!
