In a weird way, I'm surprised that bootlegs like those don't actually get released. I mean, even if they're crappy quality or whatever, they end up being so commonplace amongst collectors that it actually shocks me that record companies don't just cash in on them. Y'know? I mean, let's be honest, if a record label released this officially a TON of Beatles fans would plunk down cash for it even though it's pretty bad and they probably even have it on their hard drives already.

Yep, I agree. But um, let's try to keep that under wraps, shall we? When Cornell 1964 was released of Charles Mingus Sextet it got critical raves last year. Then, all these other great soundboards from the '64 tour (mostly the European) (Dolphy's last hurrah, of course) started going around the net. In my local record store there's now several of the '64 dates with artwork and everything and the cds are going for 30.00 a pop. Looks like they've sold a few from the last time I was there too. Oh, and I haven't seen the Chapter 27 movie about that nutcase, MDC. Not much interest really. |
I've heard some pretty fucking rediculous Syd Barrett related ones, like Long Gone predicting 9/11 or something like that...

The song Love Roller Coaster by the Ohio Players has recorded sounds of people screaming on a roller coaster, but urban legend stated that the sound was actually their manager killing an angry model. The model was mad because on the album cover she is depicted as covering herself in honey, but apparently it was a harmful chemical cocktail that ruined her legs- which were her mainstay, she was mainly a leg model. Angry, she came into the studio while they were recording and their manager simply killed her.
Not a true legend though. |
I always heard Love Rollercoaster had a chick being raped in it.
