My university, the University of Houston, had the first Public television station in the country (KUHF) and also the first public radio station in the country http://www.kuhf.org/site/PageServer (88.7 on yr FM dial in Houston TX). It broadcasts NPR and fantastic classical music all the time, and last year became the first public radio station to transmit in HD, so they have 2 channels of radio, if the news is on channel one they broadcast classical ion channel two and vice versa. fucking cool. Houston also has one of the best Public television stations in the country.
