It makes me laugh how the "kids" are now wearing hairdos like De La Soul used to back during 3 feet high.....

I always loved the "Oh My God" remix. The beat is just amazing. So much more jazz. Then there's the super rare remix that has only Know Naim rapping on it. Whom to my knowledge never recorded another track. "I raise mad Hell so you can call me daddy"

new Travis Scott featuring Future and 2 Chainz: http://www.missinfo.tv/index.php/tra...ture-2-chainz/
i'm feeling this. surprisingly 2 Chainz channeled his 2012 and came up with the best verse. Rodeo coming soon. i'm excited, Days Before Rodeo was one of my fav projects last year and if it was just a bunch of leftovers from Rodeo then this album is gonna be insane. |
also i just revisited Yeezus last weekend and it's still a 10/10 album for me.
i'm wondering if Kanye was a fan of Bang 2 / Almighty So because there's nothing on Finally Rich that sounds like Keef's hook on Hold My Liquor.. |

Ice Cube reveals plans for NWA live reunion, hints at Dr Dre's involvement "It's just gonna be a great night," Ice Cube told Rolling Stone. "It's just gonna be one of those 'I wish I were there in LA nights.' And we're gonna rock that shit, no problem." Special guests Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Schoolboy Q have been announced, with fellow NWA members MC Ren and DJ Yella signing up for the show also. Dr Dre has not yet been confirmed, but Ice Cube hinted at his involvement, saying: "You know, if you wish upon a star, you never know." If all four surviving members do reform, it will be their first performance together in 26 years. NWA formed in 1986 and disbanded in 1991. The group's fifth member Eazy-E passed away in 1995. The band had a partial reunion in 2000, but Yella was not involved. Speaking to NME, Ice Cube was asked if making the film might inspire either a studio reunion or even a live comeback. "I'd say don't rule anything out," he replied. "It could happen. Hopefully doing this record project will inspire Dre to make more records again. I think the movie will remind a lot of people the importance of who we were and what we did – including us. We're here to give the people what they want so who knows what will happen after the movie." What I wouldn't give to be at this gig. |
I've got my grubby mits on Hudson Mohawke's Lantern and I've gotta say, I'm fucking impressed. His production is clearly evolving, and there are a few tracks here that would be totally at home on one of Kanye's more ambitious projects. Really hoping HudMo is a big part of the new album, because I'm telling you, the more this guy grows the more epic his shit gets.
I think this record is going to be quite big. |
Stankonia.. i almost forgot how good is this album. i didn't like it that much back in the day, now it's my fav Kast album. it's funny that a lot of people think of it as their "sellout" album because of Ms. Jackson, while the rest of the album is exactly the opposite. easily their most challenging, experimental album.

Uhh.. Are we having a forgotten treasures moment here or something? Forgive me, I've been dabbling in other threads this week. Catch me up. Quote:
Seriously? I had my doubts before it was released. The marketing campaign was HUGE, and I was in Europe in the months preceding the release, startled to find promo posters, like, in the basement of the Louvre, for an absurdly titled southern U.S. hip hop group. It was exciting, but a little ominous. But the singles hit me right in the brain. Ms. Jackson was and is one of the best singles ever. Quote:
"Do you like the taste of gasoline? Well burn motherfucker, Burn American dreams" Fuck yeah, challenging. And awesome. I doubt people were expecting the album to open like that. Ha! |
Stankonia is dope. The only bad outkast album is Idlewild. A brilliant career of course.
|
yeah Mr. Jackson is one of their best songs, don't get me wrong. i just noticed that it gives some people the wrong impression about the album.
i don't know, i just die inside a little every time i see that someone said something along the lines of "OutKast sold out". |
in fact, the only time they were really close to what you can consider selling out was their reunion tour from last year, according to Andre himself anyway: http://pitchfork.com/news/57709-andr...-reunion-tour/
sad. |
Quote:
Yeah, don't remind me of that depressing fiasco. Reading Andre's comments after the fact really killed the vibe for me. I went from "pleasegodletoutkastreuniteanddropanalbum!" to just being completely over it in the span of a few minutes. Now I wish them well in whatever remains of their solo careers (if indeed anything does remain). Still love OutKast, like, big time, now and forever. But their time has passed. |
yeah.. but i'm still convinced that Andre will drop that solo album one day. it might take a few more years but one day we'll get it.
|
Geto Boys' Willie D doesn’t much give a fuck.“Hip-hop is fuckin’ fake,” the rapper charges. “Hip-hop is ghost, man. It’s way too easy to get into the game, and that’s what it’s so diluted. Biting used to be a cardinal sin in hip-hop. Now it’s celebrated. You couldn’t go out there and try to sound like Lil’ Wayne. Fans would clown you. You couldn’t eat trying to sound like Kanye! The fans wouldn’t let you eat! Now, these motherfuckers will let anybody eat off the plate.”

I'm not convinced of this. In fact I think it's wishful thinking, to be honest. I don't think Andre really gives a fuck. I do wish we'd hear something new from Big Boi some time soon. But Andre seems to be more or less sick of the industry. |

the new Denzel is highly disappointing, coming from someone who really liked Nostalgic 64. the two singles are my favorite songs. it took him two years to craft this album then he barely shows any development, a shame really.
|
What's that new Denzel Curry album called? Is it this "32 Zel Planet Shrooms" EP I'm reading about?

Hmm. I'm not terribly impressed with the execution or the production of the concept or the sound, and considering the fact that this release looks like shit and isn't on iTunes (not to mention the fact that I had to learn about its existence here) it really feels like a half-baked, or possibly just really lazy attempt at a follow-up to N64 (which was not only on iTunes, but a featured album on the service.) It garnered almost exclusively positive reviews from fans and critics, and probably ended up being the biggest mixtape release of 2013 -- for anyone who wasn't listening to Indigoism, of course). This new "album" is like a total regression. BUT, I have given 5-star rating to several of the tracks already ("Envy me" has a climax that kills... The scratches and epic instrumental track at the end is hot- I wish the whole song was like that.... And the next track "Ultimate" goes hard too) What the hell is the deal though? We go from album quality mixtape with slick production and awesome artwork to this shapeless, vibeless, collection of underproduced gangsta nostalgia? What's the story? |
Oh, hey, the other day I found a 3-disc Kool Keith release in the new releases section. I can't remember what it was called, but it was purpleish... Not purple like lost masters, but instead it was purple hued cover art. It was dated 2015 but I can't find anything in iTunes or Spotify to corroborate this.
Just a reissue in a fancy package? Wish I could recall the name. |
Also, why the complete lack of interest in HudMo's new album?
I seriously have the thing. It's unreal. I thought this might get a few people at least a little excited. Listen to "Scud Books" ... It's ... It's goddamn triumphant, guys. ⅓ Superhero theme, ¼ epic film score, ⅓ club rager. It's like being on ecstasy without all the dumb shit. Hudson Mohawke - Scud Books (Official) YouTube |

Maybe not

Now cube wanna fake it again? Meh |

Nah man, I've had that shit for a while. I said it wasn't Lost Masters because I thought people might only hear "purple," but it's a totally different kind of purple, even though I can't remember anything else about the big fat 3-disc packaging. It kinda looked like purple smoke over a black backdrop, and I'm pretty sure the cover was animated. I thought it must be a reissue or something, maybe a 3-for-the-price-of-one collection of a few albums that, when put together, were given a different, box set title. Like Flaming Lips' "Finally the Punk Rockers Are Taking Acid" and "The Day They Shot a Hole in the Jesus Egg" and "Heady Nuggs"... But now I'm really curious because I swear it was dated 2015, and I'd never seen it before. Can anyone shed some light on this? |

Yeah, Cube is like a career fake-ass at this point. He's like awful. What a corny motherfucker. If Dre was involved and this was serious shit, I would be pumped. Not because of a new album (how awful would that be?), but because of the prospect of a tour with the full surviving group. Early NWA is an all time high point for rap in my opinion. But currently it's about as exciting as "Flag" or the Biafraless Dead Kennedys. I mean, shit. Y'know? |
Hudson Mohawke, motherfuckers!!!
|
Cilvia Demo is still pretty damn good. if Isaiah gets just a little better on his next project, whoa..

Ok, a retail release of a 3-part mixtape series about sex, produced entirely by Kool Keith and DJ Junkaz Lou, scratches by the latter.
Well, so... Not really new music. Not a new official album certainly. And not something that sounds particularly worth the money based only on the description (where the f*** is Kurt?)... But still, I'm intrigued enough to give this a proper listen. The cover art is pretty incredible, but I'm a bit ashamed that I didn't remember that "TOTAL ORGASM" was the title. Maybe I'm frustrated. |
Anyway, thanks NR. I think I'm gonna check the individual volumes out.

Hey, did you guys realize that there's a new album by Inspectah Deck's CZARFACE project (featuuring 7L & Esoteric) due out on June 16th?
![]() I am checking it out now actually. I think I'm gonna order one of the fancy deluxe CD or LP issues with the comic and the cool packaging. Not sure if any of you recall, but Czarface's first album was extremely entertaining. Check this shit out. |
Yeah i think Doom has a cameo
