That Shakermaker song was alright. I kind of don't care.

good riddance you terrible bastards.. I haven't felt this relieved about the passing of a god-forsaken band since blink finally disappeared..

God, some of you people are Nazis...

I couldn't care less whether bands I hate stay together or not, because the only time I have to be exposed to their crap is at work. And even then, the radio will continue to play their hits, be they active or not.

There's just too much better music out there for you to concern yourselves with mediocrity.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 08.29.2009 03:00 PM

I say thanks to Our Lady for that one..

dazedcola 08.29.2009 03:13 PM

None of you have seemed to see the silver lining in all of this. With oasis split up it frees andy bell to go back reunite (the far superior) RIDE.

Believe me, I don't spend any time thinking about Oasis adn the only reason I've thought of them since years and years ago is because of that other thread. But the suck so bad and are so arrogant, it makes it hard not to hate them.

If I'm reading you right, that's exactly what I was saying: more people probably like Oasis now than like Sonic Youth. That doesn't have any bearing on their relevance.

punkaspoo 08.30.2009 03:08 AM

i like them. the first three albums are equally great and the last one is enjoyable. recently the band was in the best shape since be here now.

sarramkrop 08.30.2009 08:43 AM

i think it only really makes any sense to strongly dislike oasis if you live in the uk.

Sure, they do.

What I mean is that there have been strong self-celebratory elements in a lot of indie bands from the UK, specifically in England, since the late 80's (see Stone Roses etc), but Oasis are a kind of benchmark in that the gap between words and resulting quality got amplified in the media to ridiculous extent with their rise, and ultimately seemed to have had a detrimental influence on a lot of bands in this country. The obsession with celebrity, basically. And the poor quality on offer.

what i meant is that if more people knew them then probably more people will forget about them, either way who cares though?

there was an american guy at some festival who was interviewed about their split. he was almost in tears.

This thread made me feel sorry for Glice, somehow.

barry swedgin 08.30.2009 05:11 PM

If Oasis have split up for good I'll eat my hat. They've just played to millions of fans on their biggest world tour so far. They are obviously a bit pissed with each other, but we've heard this before and they got back together. They are nothing without each other, except a coupla millionaire fathers.

I liked them when I was younger, but my tastes moved on. 'Hello' is still a great track!!!

Oasis Announce 2025 Reunion Shows

let's see how long it will last his time :D

Toilet & Bowels 09.07.2024 05:55 PM

I'm surprised by how much interest this reunion has generated. Who knew people still cared about Oasis in 2024?
And cared enough to buy £350 tickets. Why not just burn £350 and tell anyone who'll listen that you're a clueless and have no interest in the present?

The Soup Nazi 09.08.2024 03:15 AM

"Noel Gallagher is the most overrated songwriter in the whole history of pop music." —Steve Earle

The Soup Nazi 09.08.2024 03:39 AM

From Uncut's April 2012 feature on SY:
"Oasis have never made a good record," adds Moore. "'Wonderwall'? The worst song ever! 'Sugar Sugar' by The Archies is a better song."

Is Moore wary about starting a war with Oasis?

"No, I'm just saying the truth."

Diesel 09.17.2024 10:01 AM

The dynamic pricing on tickets has got out of hand, untethered capitalism gone rampant, but Oasis should not have listed the base price so high. The highlight of these shows will be the moment Liam belts out 'we're the underclass' with no hint of self awareness to people who have spent hundreds of pounds on tickets. As you were, indeed.

The Soup Nazi 09.17.2024 06:59 PM

Let it die Jane's Addiction style.

Genteel Death 2 09.21.2024 12:39 PM

I can't wait to see them. Got my ticket last week. I hope Kasabian are supporting. Top lads.
