Playstation got it right the first time. A great example of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it"

Yes!! I loved this game! I think I lost it though when I moved.

EyeballGrowth 05.10.2009 10:45 PM

Pikmin is my favorite gamecube game. I agree, Mario Sunshine was bad and disappointing. We wanted a new Mario Bros game and we got Mario with a super soaker.

god THANK YOU.

I thought I was the only one who thought so. Worst buttons EVER

joe11121 05.11.2009 02:48 PM

Haha, I didn't mind the gamecube controllers actually

noisereductions 05.11.2009 02:52 PM

I like the GC controller just fine. Though I WISH I could find this one for a reasonable price:

Sonic Youth 37 05.11.2009 02:55 PM

The Wavebird is my favorite controller ever because it's wireless and I HATE rumble. Next is the NES controller.

I just got done giving my "new" Gamecube a test run after I hooked it up.

Now time to decide if it's worth a 9 mile drive and $15 for Aria of Sorrow:confused:

noisereductions 05.11.2009 03:10 PM

Dreamcast controllers are terrible also. I dont care. I said it.

Derek 05.11.2009 03:28 PM

I love the N64 controller. I don't know why, it's probably because I grew up with it.

And yes, Dreamcast controllers are absolutely horrible.

Sonic Youth 37 05.11.2009 03:36 PM

And as much as I like the Wii, I can't get used to the nunchuck thing. I wish they'd make a normal control (not the classic attachment thing for use with Virtual Console) that you could be normal games with. Just the non-connectedness thing is awkward a lot of the time.

joe11121 05.11.2009 03:55 PM

^ Yeah I dont like the nunchuk or wiimote.

EyeballGrowth 05.11.2009 04:19 PM

At least the dreamcast controllers, as horrible and bulky as they were, had a normal button configuration. Doesn't even matter though cause the Dreamcast is one of the greatest home video consoles of all time.

Yeah the Wii-remote was a bad idea. It works great for some games but it was a terrible decision to make it the main controller. Nintendo actually supposedly advised miyamoto to make the remote a peripheral but he was like Nah, I'm a genius, let's stick with the wii remote.

I guess he has the right to think so since he designed the nes and the super nes controllers

noisereductions 05.11.2009 04:34 PM

DC was alright, but I really don't get into the praise that most of the retro kids do. I had fun with it for a while. But it was never this great console to me.

Rob Instigator 05.11.2009 04:42 PM

you can plug a gamecube controller into the Wii, so the complaints about nunchuk and wiimote are MOOT!

I got Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 for $5 at the used video game place.

that shit is difficult. I have never played a hunting game before. I got shredded up by wolverines s bad that I copuld not run more tha 50 feet wuithout exhaustion, but I still managed to slowly track and kill thsis blacktaile deer and as I was walking to it to tag it and collect my trophy the wolverines attacked me again and I died.

Yeah, but I'm 99% sure you can't use that for Wii games. Playing a FPS or RPG with the nunchuck thing is awkward. The GC controller works great for the Virtual Console stuff.

joe11121 05.11.2009 08:56 PM

^ It works on Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I use the GC controller. I don't know if you can use the GC controller for all Wii games though.

Hmm, I'm going to check tomorrow. It would have the GC controller symbol right? Because Lego Indiana Jones needs to be finished and I don't feel like battling with the nunchuck. Have to use it for Lego Batman to aim the Batarangs :D

deflinus 05.11.2009 09:17 PM

super monkey ball was a good game

then of course, the wii version sucked

I'm not sure what you mean the GC controller symbol

Sonic Youth 37 05.11.2009 09:30 PM

Like on the back of the box, in the upper left corner, where the # of players allowed, nunchuck, Zapper, etc is

Not to turn this into a Dreamcast thread but there are many reasons retro kids praise it:

1. It had better graphics than the ps2
2. It twice as many controller ports than the ps2
3. It was the ONLY home gaming console aside from the Neo Geo that was truly like having an arcade hooked up to your tv. ( Most of the games were direct arcade ports and graphically it perfectly emulated the smooth 3D fluidity of the actual arcade machines from which they were ported. This was a big deal after sega's previous letdowns like the 32X which had " Equal to & Better than the arcades " stamped on it's box )
4. It was the first home game machine with online access, and it's built in modem can be replaced with a network card and hooked up to to the internet, or to a LAN or WAN
5. The games were, and are, in a word, " THE BEST " ( ok two words )

The Resident Evil Code Veronica Games
Phantasy Star online
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Ecco the Dolphin
Skies of Arcadia
Blue Stinger
Dynamite Cop!
Gauntlet Legends
Soul Calibur
Spawn
Cannon Spike

And perhaps the greatest multiplayer free for all game ever

Powerstone 2

BUUUUUT!!!! PS2 is whey better.

EVOLghost 05.11.2009 11:18 PM

BUt serisously...I had a GC....it was alright. I think people praise it alot more just because it isn't around....I mean the controller looks almost as retarded as teh N64 controller. And I'm sorry but I don't think I can agree with 80% of the games you listed there.

Quoted for truth

Sega made the best consoles ever (32X notwithstanding) and one day they'll make them again.

DOWN WITH SONY AND MICROSOFT!!!!! Nintendo are OK because they were founded upon gaming (started off making playing cards).

NO MORE NON-GAME FOUNDED COMPANIES MAKING CONSOLES!!!!!!

phoenix 05.11.2009 11:55 PM

Ithink I'm going to bake some cupcakes for my friend when I get home, so I can spend a day playing ALL of his consoles.
you people.

Sonic Youth 37 05.11.2009 11:58 PM

^ all people should be that lucky.

phoenix 05.12.2009 12:09 AM

me or him?

Sonic Youth 37 05.12.2009 12:10 AM

The 32X had huge potential. Playing games like Stellar Assault make me wish it had lived up to what it could have been.

Death & the Maiden 05.12.2009 02:30 AM

I just started playing Melee again after a year or two. I like it so much more than Brawl. I'm trying to get the Ice Climbers over 1000 KOs in VS Mode.

Brawl is only a little bit suckier than Melee and Melee is a little bit suckier than the original. But they all so awesome.

EyeballGrowth 05.12.2009 04:18 AM

I don't know. Brawl is the best Smash Bros game I've played so far. I am undefeated as Kirby

You can use the it for Mario Kart and a couple of others I think.
The nunchuck controls work brilliantly for Mario Galaxy and Okami , I would prefer using them over the GC controller.

The remote and the nunchuck does indeed work brilliantly for Mario Galaxy. Swimming is a little tricky, but it seems to work perfectly for that game, which in my opinion is the best game on the wii

Defiently, it was Mario 64 all over again for me.

summer 05.12.2009 06:00 AM

Next game I am going to pick up for the Wii is Super Paper Mario.. if it is half as funny as the other two, I'm sold. Mario games are great to put a smile on your face.

Like I said, I had a Dreamcast. I just didn't get into as much as PS2, Gamecube and so on.
