|

|
load records are usually spot on but they did screw up my coughs album order. they sent me the new usaisamonster TWICE instead.....
laura mullen is kind tho, totally apologetic... love that label with a big love thing |
i really need to hit up a back or something, maybe kidnap some rich guy?
|
hey, if anyone knows of any local galleries/museums/cultural centers that screen music-related things from time to time (works best if they have a proper cinema or a loud PA), let me know and i'll send them a copy of the 74 minute version of the film. i think it's possible that we might try to do some screenings where bands who are in the full release, but not necessarily in the short version play and we screen the film. maybe me, carlos, ben and the bands can do a Q&A or something. i dunno.
we may be trying this concept out at Tonic soon. i'm gonna talk to the Yerba Buena Center in SF and the Walker Art Center in MPLS about it this week. it'd be fun to do it outside of the US too. |
Try The Foundry in London. If you speak to Jonathan,i'm sure he will organize something.
|
Actually that'd be nice.Pm me and i'll talk to him.
|
lee and dave markey actually sent copies of, respectively, the notebook and the year that punk broke (yeah, tytpb was an actual copy of the unrelease dvd but they only screened the main movie, not the extras) when they screened it here in mexico last year at the cineteca as part of a music related movie run, it also included woodstock, stop making sense and similar movies. you could contact the cineteca nacional (contact page here) about it or maybe ask lee and dave how they got their stuff there (probably they got contacted by the organizers). anyway, who knows if the no fun film would fly here because mexico is not really a hot bed for noise but, then again, there's a huge sonic youth fandom here and probably would see it if they knew it was somehow sy related.

sory is this the right link???? 20 $ for 2 dvds? |
[quote=greenlight]
Quote:
yes. 2 dvds, ipod vids of all of the performances on the dvds and mp3's of all of the performances on the dvds. i've seen it for less elsewhere on pre-order, but i think load is shipping it out immediately. if you don't mind waiting, you can find it even cheaper, but you then have to factor in pricier shipping... also, LOAD's gonna make a myspace page for it. right now, fun from none test vids for wolf eyes and heathen shame are floating around on myspace, but no one knows about them til now. i want to figure out how to get their shitty video compression engine to stop slaughtering the footage before i post any other clips. when i sort it out, kim, prurient and a couple of others'll also go online there. |
Quote:
hehe, i thought it's cheap, that's why i wasn't sure. Quote:
that's cool. thanks for info! |

maya from double leopards/religious knives did the art for the cover. i did all of the art/animations for the menu/title/credit/interstitial stuff.
|
i wish i had the money, i saw that prurient footage taken by chabib like 3 months ago and have been waiting to watch it on my tv... looks like that wont be happening for a while.
|
Cool shit, Chris....I'll have to pick that up.
|

|

|
still didn't get the dvd.
bit worried now. |

did you email whoever you ordered it from to ask what's up? i know that load's been shipping them for a few weeks now and that plenty of people have received 'em. if you ordered from load, you might want to follow up with them nd find out what's up. |
fuck the no fun fest, its not even about the art anymore. its just about old fat fucks getting on stage drunk, and acting like their total bad asses cuz they can make really loud sounds with store bought metal pedals...
...the only good performance i imagine would be the prurient set, which you can find on youtube... |
Quote:
yeah, i've emailed to load records, but with no reply. it's an email adress i've got with my "receipt number email". |

Ummmm....what about Borbetomagus sir? |

my performance ruled. i got naked. that and i'm skinny and straight edge. kiss me? touch me? feed me some tofu? |
hey chris - why did the sightings footage get dropped?
the prurient footage is my fav so far - dom is intense as hell. watching his neck pulsing is rad! the magik markers footage is my least fav so far. not to be rude, but i think the slo-mo footage kills all the energy of their set. |
Quote:
Ha! Sometimes, I love you. |
Quote:
well if your skinny then thats cool, i just hate it when old fat geezers get up their and take off their clothes, its nasty and fucking gross. |
Quote:
their set was weirdly lit and for the most part, mellow. i also only had one camera for most of it. i really liked what they did sonically for the segment of music i picked, but the actual images that went with that sound had very little energy. to mittigate everything, i picked the images from their whole set that i liked best and played a little game where i tried to match something about them to the music. i slowed the footage down to make it clear that it wasn't supposed to sync to the sound. it was more of a deconstructive exercise than a performance edit. some people enjoy it some don't. that's fine with me. but yeah. dom's set was great. sightings got dropped cos i agreed to only include it on the festival edition. it was actually one of my favorite things on the first disc, but the band requested that it not be on the commercial release for what are more or less obvious reasons that have nothing to do with the video or the music. they said i could use anything from their set from the following year, but that set didn't have the same ragged energy that i loved so much in the first year. i left them in the interstitials to insure that people will always ask where the hell their set is. |
I repped chabib for the first time.
