playing around and making music that affects the world, are two completely different things. If you think Kraftwerk were solely about drum machines, you need to go back to their catalog.

That is just not true. There is plenty of personality out there, going nowhere. There are plenty of passionate players, honing their craft day in and day out, yet going nowhere. However, raw talent and innovation generally spark attention, and then afterwards passion and personality play their part in the growing appeal, but talent always opens the door. Innovations are part of how talent improves. New technologies and new techniques allow for progress in the sound and approach.

te next big thing in youth music may very well be a cross-pollination of Tejano with Twee-pop, mixed with a little Tuvan Throat-singing

I thought Body / Head was the something new......the something good coming from the Sonic Youth hiatus.

When listening to Lee Ranaldo's, "Fire Island (Phases)," I'm reminded he could so easily make the modern day version of a "classic rock album." aka Allman Brothers, Traffic, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young all rolled into one.

Granted, the "concept" may not be totally new, but being able to do so today when others don't is new in it's own way.

straws grasping at themselves

you didn't have to tell it like it is dead-battery

Thus behold the utter frailty of goodness!
Except for perfect bodhicitta
There is nothing able to withstand
The great and overwhelming strength of evil

Satan is a bitch. All he can do is frighten old ladies and children.

1
Gladly do I rejoice
In the virtue that relieves the misery
Of all those in unfortunate states
And that places those with suffering in
happiness.
2
I rejoice in that gathering of virtue
That is the cause for (the Arhat's)
Awakening,
I rejoice in the definite freedom of embodied
creatures
From the miseries of cyclic existence.

Buddhism is the religion of a rich pampered bitch after seeing how regular folks live. It hurt his widdle feelings soooo much!!!!

dead_battery 07.12.2013 04:49 PM

That is neither inaccurate or insulting.

As usual, that is a rather shallow interpretation of the powerful symbolism within "Buddhism"

We are ALL the Buddha, we are ALL at different times and stages in our lives sheltered, pampered, isolated. Yet the fundamental truth of the Buddha is that suffering is a perfectly reasonable part of life, which is not too far off from Darwinian Survival of the Fittest. His feelings weren't hurt, quite the opposite, he expressed remorse at having been pampered in the first place. Further, the philosophies and insights of Buddhism provide an invaluable perspective on how to embrace life with dignity and compassion, especially when suffering adversity be it in health, finances, or politics. In Watts we got a saying, "It iz what it iz" which is the essence of the Buddha's wisdom, but something often forgotten in peoples "woe is me" approach to life. The Mayans have a similar adage, "Don't take anything in this life personal, the Universe is NOT just fucking with you." ;)

people without some basis of talent rarely earn exposure. further, by definition innovation requires at least some degree of talent.
