Nirvana unplugged The who-live at leeds (why has no one said this one?) |
I'm always a bit unsure as to what Zeppelin bootlegs to get. They're one of them bands like Nirvana were one show could be great then the next nights show could be a piece of shit.
|
get
Trick or Treat 10/13/91 Seattle - Nirvana sbd get Dallas Remains the Same sbd most Led Zeppelin boots are horrible audience recordings...stick to the few (20 or so) soundboards & you'll be happy |
I nearly got Trick or treat. Until I got bored with the whole trading thing that is.
Led Zeppelin? I'll get one at a bootleg fair one day. |
Xiu Xiu - Life and Live
|
does the live recording on Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe and Reduxe count?
Stop Making Sense-Talking Heads |
AB bustin' out with the Live in Japan triple disc...I shared that one at the yahoo group awhile back...by the end, Trane had lost his band & was playing with fellow burn-outs like himself...good stuff though. when i discovered it, I was impressed at how good it still sounds.
the earlier quintet is hot & swingin' on Falkonarteatret Copenhagen '61 one of my absolute favorite live recordings ever...it definitely would make my top 10...on the subject of favorite bootleg recordings: 4/7/96 & 3/18/96 - SY & complete rooftop concert - The Beatles --- some of Zappa - Guitar is really good the Grateful Dead wow, there's opening up a huge can of typing... Europe '72 is a good officially released one & the more recent update too & if I had to name just one bootleg it would be the radio station thing they did in Luxembourg on that tour. Amazing vocals, setlist & sound on that one. |
Screeching Weasel-Thank You Very Little
Ramones-Live set off Leave Home Re-Issue Elvis Costello-Armed Forces Disc 2 Live portion Dis-honorable mention (not that I hate the album but for a live album its kind of a bummer) Radiohead-I Might Be Wrong Live Sessions |
I like the Dylan 1966 Royal Albert Hall thing, and Cash's Folsom Prison. I have a couple of pretty good Stones boots from the late 60s, early 70s--Liver than you'll ever be (1969 tour), Madison Square Garden 1972, Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out (1971), and Nasty Music (Europe, 1973)--from the great Mick Taylor period. Also have a Stones boot of the 1975 tour but they kind of sucked on that one.
|
& even though the recording quality sucks, there's a pretty interesting live album (offical, not boot) of the Dolls from 1974 that I'm proud to own on vinyl!
|
Tim Buckley's "Dream letter live in London 1968" and "Peel sessions" are awesome.
