Good Movie. I'll just say this;

"Nazi Punks
Nazi Punks
Nazi Punks
FUCK OFF!"

hola,i like this movie,it's very well shot and acted(i love the basketball game sequance),mr.norton is one of the best and most important actors of our days imo.
actually i think that this movie is not too hard to watch, the curbstomp is the only scene maybe "too" strong(even if the rape in prison it's an horrible situation to think about, also because it's something that actually happens..).
conicidentally last night i watched fight club.

fishmonkey 05.17.2006 04:25 AM

i saw it too, although i did prefer Romper Stomper, the curb thing was a bit gruesome but the thing where he's influencing the brother all the was thru and then he goes to prison and comes out all good and stuff and tries to stop the brother.. i like where it flicks between black and white and then color, classic film. you should check out Romper Stomper EMMah, Russell Crowe is prob one of my favorite all time actors, Gladiator makes me bawl like an ass everytime i see it

My friend Keely, who is american, once spent over an hour trying to convince a french girl who we knew that people can actually think and react like they do in the film round where she was brought up in California. The french girl kept on insisting that the whole movie is way too Hollywood to be believed or taken seriously, not taking into consideration that european sensibilities can vastly differ from american ones. And there isn't anything wrong in that either,it's just the spice of life i suppose.

i thought the russell crowe flick bordered on "exploitation cinema", rather than addressing serious issues at hand.. it was gory and violent - not that it's a bad thing - and lacked the essence american history x had..

good movies.. a serious issue, where it's difficult to examine all the underlying aspects..
american history x is a part of my collection, and i watch it about once a year, and still find it powerful in terms of narration...

i like both movies equally but i don't like the fact that x became the edward norton show, he is indeed a great actor up there with phillip seymore hoffman and johnny depp but i don't really like him, i like him about as much as i like tom cruise but of course norton is far cooler than tom cruise could ever be

DemonBox 05.17.2006 06:09 AM

Fucking brutal, but a good movie.

Trasher02 05.17.2006 06:48 AM

Great movie! Watched it several times. Fight Club is pretty amazing too, i love movies with Edward Norton in it he's my favorite actor.

La Haine is a great movie indeed.I relate to it a lot being italian. The police in France and in Italy are brutal in big cities. It's no wonder you get people rioting all the time

Magublafix 05.17.2006 07:13 AM

very good movie.

alyasa 05.17.2006 07:50 AM

Romper Stomper is of course more visceral, being focused solely on the actual skinhead subkulcha, wherehas in X, the skinhead subkulcha is more of a backdrop thingy, where the filmakers have splashed all the colors of hate, bigotry, ignorance, bitterness, sorrow, misery, violence and shallowness into a quiet mess of riotuousness and rebelliousness.

!@#$%! 05.17.2006 11:58 AM

i didn't know about the edit but that explains a lot. the movia was a letdown for me after hearing so much about it. too fucking contrived and overly sentimental and cliched. edward norton as usual shows great acting but i guess that's what happens when you let whores (actors that is) get their paws on the final version of the film. if you don't believe me, go watch "spartacus" & notice how kirk douglas mauled stanley kubrick's work. ayayay...

i'll check out romper stomper, thanks for the reference.

Poor Danny... :(

Could Edward Norton be anymore sexy in this movie???

Right?? ;)
Excellent movie.

val-holla-ing 05.19.2006 06:49 PM

25th hour was another really good film that starred ed norton. the subject matter is nothing near that of american history x, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's just a good movie.

i didn't dig romper stomper, though.
