I wouldn't mind hearing Diamond Sea, but I'm not a big fan of the rest of Washing Machine. I'd like to hear:

Death Valley 69
I Love Her All the Time
She's in a Bad Mood
Star Power
Stereo Sanctity
Tuff Gnarl
Cross the Breeze
Trilogy
Disappearer
Wish Fullfillment
On the Strip

HaydenAsche 04.17.2006 08:39 PM

They will play a 2 hour version of Shaking Hell. It will be glorious.

Andrés 04.17.2006 09:18 PM

secret girl
beauty lies
the wonder/hyperstation
tunic
theresa's

i just hope they EXTEND THE SET!!!!!!!
to more than the ...
12
2
1
... they should jam
@ very least 1 or 2 songs off EACH album
having like a 3 hour show.
..... i mean come on they been a round for like 25 years
and they definately got enough songs
.... then i again it would be cool if they..
jammed their regular style set and then did a big long improv... in the style of syr6 ...
..... hopefully but not likely

what do you guys think?

velvetmonkey 04.17.2006 11:06 PM

I saw they playing PCH and Expressway, here in Brazil, and it fucked my head. I love these songs!

Alex's Trip 04.17.2006 11:07 PM

Anything will work for me, as long as I see them a do a full set, not opening for anyone. I want to see them again. That's all really.

Danny Himself 04.18.2006 08:22 AM

Thurston mentioned this morning they're working on some 'new old songs', so likely is they'll be ones that haven't been played that much, i.e EJSTNS and Washing Machine tracks.

krastian 04.18.2006 01:17 PM

Did you hear that on the radio or something?

I think it'd be better if they play a 2 hour version of Inhuman, from the same album ...

I'd like them to play I Dreamed I Dream...

Just for the record, that tuning is referred to as "Low C". It may be a G tuning by music theory standards (???) or it may not. Sharing the knowledge...

Neongod 04.18.2006 02:51 PM

As for the setlist, expect most if not all of Rather Ripped, a few songs from Nurse, and about 6 older songs that get rotated...2 or 3 per show. Rumors are already out of someone "outside" playing bass for the tour.

that would be cool .. but i would "rather" see sonic youth play as a four piece
making dew with what they got ......
..swithin up between 3guitars &/or 2guitars and a bass ..washing machine style
they can easily make the songs sound good evn if there way different than they were recorded ....
I MEAN ISNT THAT PARTIALLY WHAT SONIC YOUTHS LIVE REP IS ABOUT !!
BEIN ALL WIERD, FREAKIN OUT, AND ROCKIN ALL CRAYZ LIKE

hellotwentyfifteen 04.19.2006 12:13 AM

good pun "create sounds"

i would kill someone

ifront of their own mother

to see washing machine live

has anyone heard the version from "live from the sea, aka haluciogenic preserve"

its quite possibly the greatest thing my ears have ever touched

man just thinking about it makes me shiver and cry a little bit

hellotwentyfifteen 04.19.2006 12:19 AM

i should also ad that according to the sonic youth song data base, they havent played any wahsing machine songs other than skip tracer since 1995

i would also kill a puppy to see them play "in the mind of the bougiuos reader". there are very few things that would make me mosh, but that sooooooo would.

also theyve aparently never played wishfufilment live ever

Angel Dust 04.19.2006 02:55 AM

I suppose the band will dip into ATL tunes though.

I couldn't agree more! Yeah, more Dirty, Goo, and Confusion is sex stuff, I would kill for a live performance of "Purr", "Brother James", and "Titanium".

I am so bummed that they are touring with Pearl Jam, though and I am afraid they won't be heading back to CA for this tour, since they are already doing a shit load of shows here.

pao-lino 04.19.2006 04:04 AM

haven't they talked about a retrospective tour?
that would mean at least one song (more or less) from every album...
but I can't expect what the new songs will sound live! kim songs will rock!
I have a bootleg in portugal right before ejstns came out, and they played a few songs from sister... so, since the new one has been recorded in the same studio, logic suggests they'd play some ejstns!

I'd like to see brother james live too... I know they played it a lot, bit at the 2 concerts I've been, they never played it...

Washing Machine 04.19.2006 05:12 AM

I wanna Hear

Death Valley 69
Teenage Riot
Mote
Wish Fulfillment
Little Trouble Girl
The Diamond Sea
Sunday
Karen Revisited
Dripping Dream
I love You Golden Blue

kingcoffee 04.19.2006 07:20 AM

They're obviously going to make their show's represent their new album. I wouldn't be surprised if they did some Washing Machine era stuff. Maybe just a little bit. I'd love to see them do Diamond Sea live. The holy Grail of SY songs. But I think they will probably rely on some of their older material as the other songs. As long as they shy away from EJSTANS
