Sort of an explanation point directed at what guest said a few pages back:

Parts of twitter are amusing me right now, as I summed up with my own tweet:

Twitter right now: You should vote for who you want to be President.

Me: *wants and votes for a 3rd party candidate*

Twitter: Except you! A vote for 3rd party is a vote for the party I don't want.

The southern one, and yes, we have some wtf people in charge, and we keep making the news for all the wrong reasons. And we'll probably go for Trump later this year cause we are NOT a battleground state. But still.

Liberals say my 3rd party vote is for a Republican.
"Conservatives" say my 3rd party vote is for a Liberal.
I say my 3rd party vote is for a 3rd party but I've already been dismissed from the conversation by that time, so fuck me right?

Whatever. I need to re-register as an independent again which I was from like 2001 or so till 2014ish when I decided I cared enough about 3rd parties-lite in primaries to want to vote at that time, enough to register Republican.

I have not once...ever...voted for a Republican presidential candidate. 2004 and 2008 were Democrats, 2012-2016 were Libertarian, I'm pretty sure. 2012 is the year I can't recall well at all. I am NOT voting for Trump in 2020, but depending on your own stances, I might as well be :D

Also, I won't dismiss you for not being sure regardless, but my location is literally on the left side of every forum reply I provide :D

Well, I think ya got the right to vote for whom ya want, especially in deep red or, like Oregon, deep blue states. However, a libertarian is sorta off the charts silly. Down ballot votes real important including such mundane positions as city council, municipal judge, sheriff, etc.

ah haha i think it was late for me and i was posting from a small screen so no room for sidebars... also location won’t appear when one quotes.

i was trying to remember if you were among the people who ditched herseth in congress and brough kristi noem to congress and now she’s your governor lololololol

ANYWAY i see the appeal of libertarianism in theory, just like marxism in theory will bring us heaven. in practice it’s always a lot more complicated and unintended consequences happen also in laissez faire setups without the benefit of a counteracting mechanism/steering capabilities. seems to me it ends up in divide & conquer favoring the powerful. ofc the powerful also hijack governments... can’t win against the bastards.

also... doesn’t your state basically rely on federal agricultural subsidies? curious about how that aligns with fiscal conservatism in general, in your state. never been to your part of the country actually but i know people from the area—both nordic immigrant types and lakotas.

i used to be more of an idealist back in the day but im now more of a practical bastard who sees the necessity of compromise in group settings, much more so in very large groups. so i try vote tactically towards desirable, achievable goals. for me that ends up being usually democrats—imperfect, but overall more good than bad, or at least “less bad than the rest,” lol.

klobuchar wraps her campaign

looks like the dnc is closing ranks behind uncle joe?

Derek 03.02.2020 02:14 PM

If Warren is actually a progressive she'd drop out and endorse Bernie. She is eating into his voter base for no reason and it's an incredibly bad look.
